NASCAR legend and Dirty Mo Media network head, Dale Earnhardt Jr is facing a familiar foe: the allure of doom-scrolling. In a recent interaction, Junior revealed a lighthearted “phone-off” argument with his wife, Amy, leading to a shocking realization – they were both spending excessive time glued to their phone screens. This revelation sparked a personal experiment for Junior, one that could potentially alter his social media activities and availability and spark a broader conversation about healthy screen time habits.

In a recent video posted by Dirty Mo Media Network’s Instagram page, Dale Earnhardt Jr sat in a discussion with Dalton Greco and host of the Dirty Mo Media podcast, “Next Level”, Andrew Kurland. The 2-time Daytona 500 winner went on to talk about his potential social media restrictions in light of an honest discussion he had recently with his wife, Amy.

He said, “Yeah, me and my wife got in an argument over who was using Instagram the most, or who was on their phone the most, right? And if you get married, you’re going to have that conversation. You’re on your phone more. No, you’re on your phone more.., and we actually did the math, and it turns out that we’re really on there similar amounts of time, too much.”

“So nobody really won or lost. But I set some app limits, right? You can go into the screen time, set these app limits and I’m giving it a shot. I use Instagram and Twitter the most, and so, I put myself on a 30-minute limit on both apps (a day).”

To this, Kurland hilariously responded, “I don’t know, I think that would affect my job performance if I did that, but I could try.”

The video clip that he shared on Instagram had the caption, “Are you going to take the @DaleJr Phone App-Limit Challenge?” Responding to this, many social media users stated that they wouldn’t be able to do it. However, his conversation was relatable to many married couples.

Dale Earnhardt Jr’s decision to limit app time might come as a surprise to many fans accustomed to seeing him actively interacting on social media. At the helm of a thriving digital media network featuring popular podcasts like “The Dale Jr. Download” and Denny Hamlin‘s “Actions Detrimental,” his own online presence plays a crucial role in promoting the network and connecting with Junior’s vast fanbase. For now, a reality check seems to have done it for Junior while he also urged his co-hosts and podcast listeners, “I’m telling you, man. Give it a shot.”

Further, did you know that popular podcaster Joe Rogan was once shocked to know that people spend around 11 hours on media per day? In 2021, when Michael Easter, a men’s health writer, told him, “… people spend 11 hours a day engaging with digital media,” the only response Rogan could muster up was “Is that real?”
