Back in Texas this year, Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman found himself crashing against the wall. Soon, it was revealed that he too had suffered concussions just like Kurt Busch prior to him. Bowman was rendered out of the car as he was deemed fit to be racing. However, recently, former NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr reshared Bowman’s NASCAR return video statement via his Instagram story.

In the video statement, Bowman said, “Hey guys, I’m really excited to tell you that I’m coming to the last race at Phoenix. Greg and I started something there in 2015, that we never got to finish. So, hopefully, we can get the job done to have one final race with Greg. To have one final race with Greg is going to be really special.”

“Thank you to Ally and Hendrick Motorsports and all the doctors that have helped me. It’s been a long road and a lot of work but excited to be back to a 100% and to be back in a race car. So hope to see you guys out there. We are going to finish the season strong and hopefully get one last win for Greg. See you guys there.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr later shared Bowman’s video statement via his Instagram story where he wrote, “Some good news today.”

What happened to Alex Bowman and Kurt Busch?

Bowman was not cleared to race by doctors after an evaluation following his Texas Motor Speedway crash. His car seemingly had lost the rear and made contact with the outside wall, The crash was seemingly normal and did not feel like something massive. However, the case soon turned out to be different.

Bowman’s crash was a stark reminder of what happened to fellow driver Kurt Busch, who had also crashed in a similar fashion. However, while Bowman is able to now state that he has made a full recovery and will be returning to racing at Phoenix, the same was not the case for Busch.

Kurt Busch recently announced that he will not be returning to racing in a full-time capacity anymore. He mentioned how he had not fully recovered from the effects of his injury and that he chose to prioritize his health above all. Since then multiple drivers stepped out of their comfort zone to publically hold NASCAR responsible for these injuries and call them out for providing an unsafe car.
