Recently, former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr recalled a fairly old NASCAR race. To be specific, he was referring to the 1976 NASCAR season and the Charlotte race, where Donnie Allison won. As per the usual procedure, the officials performed a thorough inspection of the car. Admittedly, Allison was not overly patient about the situation, and this was quite understandable.
This would potentially be his 7th career win and his first in the newly renamed Winston Cup Series. He threatened the technical director, “If he takes this win away for me, he’ll never inspect another race car again. I promise you that”. Needless to say, his car passed the post-race inspection with flying colors and Allison kept the win.

Dale Jr discovered this interesting story in a book by Greg Fielden. The book is titled, ‘Forty Years of Stock Car Racing: The Modern Era 1972-1989’. In the same book and in the same race, AJ Foyt ended his race early and was very angry. According to him, the car was not prepared and he would prefer to run his own car than the car he was using.
Dale Earnhardt Jr had a lot of stories from classic NASCAR races
Often on Twitter, the former Daytona 500 winner sometimes comments on older races. They may either be from before his time or during his racing days, but his stories are great and entertaining. He even talked about a 2011 race with Jimmie Johnson where the two made a wager.

Dale Jr helped push Johnson to victory, beating Clint Bowyer at Talladega by 0.002 seconds. Speaking about that, he said, “I told JJ all he owed me was a case of Schlitz. Half joking. The next day a trailer with taps on the side of it showed up in my driveway. Kegs of Schlitz. It was a most impressive sight. This epitomizes JJ as a person.”
