NASCAR is not leaving any stone unturned to make its races more compelling with each passing day. The races in the ongoing Cup Series season have witnessed a diversification of tracks as the governing body tries to make the sport more dynamic in nature. While a majority of the experiments have proved to be a success, the heart of the fans still lies with the short tracks of NASCAR. With new agendas coming ahead, Dale Earnhardt Jr has a fervent plea for the drivers.

The short tracks of NASCAR have always been the most coveted tracks among the fans, but with the roll-out of the Next-Gen cars, the race at these tracks has been lackluster. Moreover, there has been a glaring dearth of these short-track packages in the present season. But fret not; NASCAR has taken the initiative to improve performance on these tracks, as they are set to test the new short track at New Hampshire after the commencement of Crayon 301.

But before the selected drivers take their seats behind the wheel to test the new track, let’s see what Dale Jr. wants them to know.

Dale Earnhardt Jr requests drivers be careful ahead of NHMS testing

The races at the short tracks for the last couple of years have failed to live up to the standards of NASCAR and also among its fans. Moreover, the fans were left to desire more in the bland races that the Next-Gen cars produced on these tracks, which have been the birthplace of NASCAR and were molded into their current shape.

Although the governing body had taken up various initiatives to improve the racing experience on these tracks, everything seemed to fall flat on its face. Nevertheless, NASCAR is optimistic this time, as they are set to test a new short track in New Hampshire, after the commencement of Crayon 301. And joining the roster to carry out the tests are Christopher Bell, William Byron, Eric Jones, and others.

But before the drivers go ahead with the testing. Dale Earnhardt Jr stated his propositions that the drivers need to keep in mind. In the episode of Dale Jr Download, the veteran driver expressed, “These drivers need to be smart enough to understand what they are there to achieve. You are not there to make your car faster, you are not there to help your car turn or help your team learn, or help your crew chief learn. You might need to sacrifice some of that, for the good of the sport.”

“You also might need to understand that you are not there to try to test what feels good. You need to test and be thinking about what is going to help our cars put on the best race when we go on a short track[…]”

He continued: “They are doing a lot of aero stuff at this test and so if one of these guys goes out there and they are racing and four-five of them lined up and the guy up front is not comfortable and he gets passed and the next person is in front and is not comfortable and he gets passed. They better not come in and go this s*cks man, you cant lead. You can’t do that.”

This test comes months after NASCAR had undertaken the first testing at Phoenix in January to improve the aero conditions on short and road courses. The test which is set to be conducted in NHMS next week will cater to the new splitter of the cars.

Even Christopher Bell explained the process in layman’s terms. He expressed, “It creates lift in clean air. The goal is, when you get into traffic and lose airflow to your splitter, it gives you more downforce than you would by yourself.”

However, Jr. exclaims, “You got to be thinking differently on this test. You are being handed a different test to take and a different responsibility to achieve a unique result[…] A lot is riding on this!

The exact outcome of the test hinges upon the response of the drivers, but it will be an interesting state of affairs to see how NASCAR uses these pieces of information to bring back the real essence of stock car racing in the next seasons. Stay tuned for updates as NASCAR is headed to New Hampshire.
