Being born the son of a NASCAR legend and growing up in a family full of racecar drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s life centered on racing. But his wife sought to change that, or at least tone that down, as soon as the duo started dating.
In a recent interview with Danica Patrick in her Podcast, Pretty Intense, Dale Jr. revealed something fascinating.
He opened up about his preference for staying on the trailer during races and never stepping out of the track. However, his wife, Amy Reimann, was not too fond of that lifestyle.

He said,
“When me and Amy started dating I’m like, ‘hey you’re gonna go to the racetrack with me it’s gonna be awesome’.” “We get there and she’s like, ‘are we not leaving this bus? Like, we were there for like 24 hours at Pocono or somewhere. And I’m like, ‘no why would we leave? We have all the food we need, I’m here to race I’m at the racetrack.” “I can’t leave the track it’s like seven o’clock at night and I’m like I can’t leave what I’ve never left’.”ADVERTISEMENT

Of course, Reimann put her foot down, and said, “I’m not sitting in this bus all weekend. We’re going to dinner find somewhere to go, where can we go”

Did Amy Reimann convince Dale Earnhardt Jr. to step out?
It seems like Amy Earnhardt’s methods worked. In fact, Dale Jr. even thanks his wife for helping him get out of his comfort zone.
He continued,
“Nothing kind of propelled me to go outside of my comfort zone. And then Amy, you know, along with other things we mentioned, Amy, she forced it. She’s like, ‘look you’re I’m not living this way, you’re going to have to want to go out and do and enjoy and experience’.”“And she made it a lot of fun, you know?”, “She showed me a whole sort of new lifestyle of getting out and just doing.”In the end, it’s interesting to see how Dale Jr.’s wife helped him step out and learn a new lifestyle; a lifestyle other than racing.
