What’s the difference between simulation and reality when it comes to racing? Perhaps, there are countless textbook explanations for this simple question, but if you ask a NASCAR driver, he may give you a different answer.
For a NASCAR racer, it is not the simple difference in definition between the two words that matters. The most significant difference for drivers is, perhaps, the adrenaline rush they get in live racing. There’s no denying the significance of simulations, but ask a stock car racer, and the opinions may slightly vary.
Better ask Dale Earnhardt Jr and he’ll have a solid answer to this, which he talked about after his recent visit to Lernerville Speedway.

Dale Earnhardt Jr visits Lernerville, and thanks Kyle Larson for the live-viewing opportunity
The NASCAR legend paid a visit to the Lernerville Speedway on September 26 to spectate the Commonwealth Clash in the 2023 High Limit Series, at the invitation of fellow NASCAR driver and High Limit Series founder Kyle Larson. This was Dale’s first in-person visit to Lernerville which was hosting the mid-week sprint car series. However, this was not Dale’s first visit to the venue. Confused? Well, you should be.
It seems Earnhardt Jr has been a regular on this track on iRacing. Though he has been virtually experiencing this track, it was still a special moment for him to be present in reality.
Speaking on an episode of his podcast, The Dale Jr Download, the former racer thanked Kyle Larson for giving him this opportunity.
“[Kyle] invited us to Lernerville. I ran this track on iRacing. It’s really cool to be here in person after running it so much on iRacing and never being here in real life,” Dale said.
He also appreciated the large number of fans who turned up at the event.
“Massive crowd of people, awesome crowd,” he said.

Deeply passionate about sprint racing, Kyle founded the High Limit Sprint Car Series in 2022. Still a newbie in the world of racing, the series can definitely gain momentum with big names like Dale Earnhardt Jr, which Kyle seemed to recognize. He didn’t fail to thank Dale for his presence on the grandstands.
“It was awesome that he was here. He’s just a great guy,” Larson said.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver also appreciated the massive spectatorship he brought in with him.

“And just seeing how [he] deals with all the fans. It’s pretty incredible for somebody like that. I’ve never been around anything like that before in my life. Just seeing the craziness was wild. But he handles it very well. I think we’re all fortunate as race fans here tonight to have him here and help grow our sport,” Larson said as per FloRacing.
Dale and Kyle’s comradeship off the tracks is certainly a sight fans enjoy. Now, it is to see what avenues these two venture together in the future!
