It is officially off-season now, already been a week since NASCAR packed up its 2023 schedule for all three top-tier series. The drivers are taking some time off of their busy schedules to spend it with family or go on a vacation. After all, all work and no play make Jack a dull boy. And Dale Earnhardt Jr is no exception.

The two-time Xfinity Series champion went out with his Dirty Mo Media crew, including Steve Letarte and the statistics guys, to stay in an Airbnb at Wigwam. And here’s where Dale Junior found an essential piece of toiletry missing from his room. Although he managed without it, looks like his wife, Amy, wouldn’t let it slide that easily.

Usually, when one goes inside a hotel, one finds toiletries in the bathroom. Being a frequent traveler, Dale Junior also expected Airbnb to provide their visitors with these basic amenities. However, he failed to realize that an Airbnb is a bit different from regular hotels. The one that Dale Earnhardt Jr and company chose to stay at did not have soaps.

However, a hand soap came to Junior’s rescue. What’s more fascinating is that he spent the entire weekend bathing with hand soap. When Mike Davis heard this funny story, he exclaimed, “Feels like something a quick run to the store would have fixed.” However, Dale Junior is made of something else. He even went as far as to wash his hair with that hand soap. Later when they were back, Junior came out of the shower and told his wife, “Nice shower; I really needed this. I’m washing the Phoenix off of me. It’s a dust bowl.”

Amy was taken aback! “What are you talking about?” she asked.

“I used hand soap all weekend,” Dale came up with a blatant reply. For Amy, spending an entire weekend without shampoo and washing her hair with hand soap was just unthinkable. She was like, “Really?” Both Mike Davis and Junior rolled out into laughter. Junior further added, “I don’t wanna say this is a male-female thing; when I got the hand soap, the problem solved. We’re good to go. Amy’s like, that’s idiotic.

Davis, however, chose the risky path and declared, “No, I think that is a male-female thing. Because if there was no hand soap, then you had to rationalize water’s gonna have to do. Water it is!”

Junior argued that if there was no hand soap, obviously he wouldn’t have chosen the dish soap. There’s where he would have drawn the line. “I would have continued to search the apartment until I found something,” he said. “But the hand soap did it. Hand soap solved it!”

Dale Junior knows better than to hide anything from his wife. Moreover, he has done something that ensures complete transparency between him and his wife. Junior shares his location with his wife 24/7 via mobile phone. And that just takes away the necessity for Amy to ask where her husband is.

Dale Earnhardt Jr feels like the question, “Where are you?” can have a thousand implications, and just a text message isn’t enough to convey the exact emotion behind the text. Hence, the ingenious strategy.

In an interview with The Athletic, Junior said, “A text conversation can go off the rails very quickly. So she doesn’t have to wonder, “What are you doing? Where are you at?” She can look and see, “Oh, hey, I see you’re over here. Would you go by Publix and pick up the groceries?” So we share our location, and I’ve always kind of liked that.”

However, it’s not just about maintaining a healthy relationship. Sharing locations with one’s significant other does make things more assured. For example, if Dale Earnhardt Jr is expecting Amy to get home safely or the plane to land safely, he can easily pick up the phone and be assured that Amy is safe. “Even if you’re not checking it, the actual idea that you can gives you comfort, right? I can pick this (phone) up and go, “I wonder where Amy is at right this minute.”
