Dale Earnhardt Jr is returning to Late Model racing at North Wilkesboro. The last time he raced in Late Model was way back in 1997. Having found success later on in the Cup Series and becoming a NASCAR Hall of Famer, the legend returns to the format that is way too close to his heart.

While talking about how much he has missed racing late model, Earnhardt said, “It was honestly emotional, The late model stock car, that’s my baby. I’ve missed it so badly, and I just am excited to hopefully have a good experience driving the car. I’m hoping this might encourage me to do more of this.”
Dale has been enthusiastic about returning to the racing series, even during his Cup career days. Earnhardt has kept himself rather occupied since his last Cup race in 2017. He also owns a racing team called JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Despite all this, he is willing to sort out his time to go back out racing in a format that he is absolutely obsessed with.
Earnhardt said, “It’s not that I’m too busy and it’s not that I don’t have the time, It’s that it’s really intimidating, to be honest with you. These guys are good, they’re all really competitive, and I just need to be OK with getting my butt kicked.”
