In a significant shift for NASCAR fans, NBC had taken over the NASCAR broadcast from Fox, starting with the Ally 400 race weekend. This transition comes after Fox’s first 16-race coverage faced criticism from fans for increased ad breaks, poor direction of race broadcasts, and missing significant incidents on the track.

The frustration expressed by fans did its magic as Dale Earnhardt Jr and his team took over the race booth from Mike Joy and his crew. Now, Dale Jr has recently fired some shots at FOX, and the NASCAR fans seem to agree with him.

As NASCAR zoomed ahead with the Ally 400, the upcoming races promise to be an electrifying spectacle. With the action-packed regular-season races and the intense playoff events, the dynamic quartet of Rick Allen, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton, and Steve Letarte will provide an unforgettable soundtrack for fans tuning in.

Recently, the co-owner of JRM took to his social media to talk about this new change, and fans added their support. He remarked, “I know there’s a lot of opinions about the “moments” but damn, how good has the racing been these past several weeks? @NASCAR is alive and well! (ric flair whoo)

This takes one back to times when prior to its first-race coverage, Junior sat down for an interview with The Athletic. Talking about NBC  would naturally loop in a comparison with FOX. He began by complimenting why NBC is the real deal, “I love working for NBC because all of the booth talent can say, ‘Hey, the battle for seventh is about to happen. The eighth-place car is catching him, he’s running him down’ and the cameras will go there. They will trust us and take us to where we want to go. I really love that about my job.

Drawing a comparison between the two, Junior subtly elaborated, “If I had to sit there and basically just talk about what was on the screen, that’d be frustrating, because I want to take you where I think the battles are. But if somebody was choosing what I was seeing and I had to narrate that, that would not be any fun.”

Criticism hurled at Fox’s NASCAR coverage was the race booth’s lack of control over the producers and broadcast. Fans were disappointed with the supposedly excessive number of ad breaks, which often led to missed on-track incidents, or the camera focusing on other less important moments.

2014 Daytona 500 winner preferred NBC’s approach, taking the audience to where he believes the action is happening rather than just narrating what the producers display on the screen. This level of creative control allows him to provide the best possible race coverage and give fans the insights they crave.

“Sure helps when you also have a competent broadcast team calling the race. NBC has been fantastic so far for NASCAR,” one fan commented on Reddit.

“It’s better than FOX could ever do. Plus, NBC has the names. Jeff Burton, dale jr., Steve Letarte,Kyle petty,Dale Jr, Jarrett,Parker kligerman,Matt Yocum, Daugherty and mike joy. So I can see why more people prefer it over FOX.” the third one agreed.

When the booth talent identifies an upcoming exciting moment, they can direct the cameras to focus on it, ensuring that viewers don’t miss out on crucial moments during the race.

“I think NBC has also done a fantastic job capitalizing on all the storylines over the past month. They’ve had absolutely phenomenal coverage.” a viewer commented.

One NASCAR enthusiast posted, “I personally love Jr in the booth. I think his genuine love for the sport is evident, and he genuinely seems to gets excited. It’s not manufactured excitement. It just feels more pure, and is significantly more enjoyable to me.”
