Post his shock retirement in 2017, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been on the search for ways to stay connected to the track. From his own organizations, Dirty Mo Media and JR Motorsports, to being involved in renovating iconic long-forgotten tracks, Junior has been more active than ever in bringing more variety into the sport. Apart from these, racing has also been his go-to adventure in NASCAR, being unable to stay away from it for long.
Earnhardt has also created the CARS Late Model Tour, which he has driven from time to time. His presence on the track adds more value and crowd to the races, attracting eyes from the fans towards it. However, in his latest attempt at competing behind the steering wheel, he faces some unwanted consequences for his participation.

Earlier this week, Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared the news of his going back to race at the Florence Motor Speedway on Twitter. After competing in last year’s South Carolina 400 and coming back again to it in February, Earnhardt’s next event in line came to be the Locked In 200.
Apart from him, Stewart-Haas Racing driver Chase Briscoe also joined the event, making it a well-attended race. The FMS Twitter handle also teased the appearance of the stars to grace the track by teasing the color schemes of the cars through images. Earnhardt relayed his decision to partake in it by retweeting it, as he said, “Decided this week (what the hell) let’s go have some fun. “

But the two-time Xfinity champion was reeling from the aftereffects of the race as he shared with the world. Having raced after a long span of about seven months, Earnhardt Jr finds himself in the middle of an unwanted situation with the playoffs about to arrive.

Junior revealed that he had to sit out the weekend with a sinus cold that has dented his vocal abilities as the fan has noticed. One would feel that it would have been better if Junior didn’t opt to race prior to the ever important premiere of the playoffs at Darlington. But considering his history at Florence, it is understandable why he’d decide to race again.

Junior has won a Late Model Stock Car race at FMS in 1996. Darlington, which stands close to FMS, is also a memorable venue for him, having finished in the top-5 4 times in his career. Following this year’s South Carolina 400 earlier this year, Junior also revealed his love and admiration for these old tracks and coming back to race on them. Whatever the conditions might be, Dale Earnhardt Jr. certainly loves to drive on a vintage track.
