“Master of Puppets/ I’m Pulling Your Strings/ Twisting Your Mind/ And Smashing Your Dreams.” Ah, the bold sound of Hetfield’s voice over Kirk’s solos and Trujillo’s bass slaps! Ask any fan, and they will recall headbanging for eight minutes straight set after set, concert after concert. That is the passion of just about every Thrash fan. And it seems like Dale Earnhardt Jr is also one of them.
The latest tweet from the JR Motorsports co-owner seems to hint at that.

Music has always been a quintessential part of the NASCAR world. The pre-race activities in NASCAR have always contributed to making the weekends memorable. From time to time, the pre-race festivities portray both pageantry and patriotism by honoring brave hearts and conducting military flyovers. The pre-race pageantry events often include performances by bands.
However, hardcore metalheads don’t usually get to see their stars in the pre-race ceremonies. Perhaps Dale Jr‘s tweet is instilling some hope in fans. The fact that this 48-year-old is a fan of this heavy metal band can be attested by his tweet. He recently tweeted, “Metallica ‘Crown of Barbed Wire’ playing in @JR Motorsports fab shop right now. Worth about a solid tenth of a lap.” Released in April 2023, the song Crown of Barbed Wire features in the eleventh album by Metallica.

However, it is not the first time that Dale Jr has shown his passion for rock and metal. His #8 Chevy Monte Carlo once featured the rock band Staind in 2003. The two-time Daytona 500 winner also featured a logo of the Dave Matthews band in 2004. Furthermore, the fact that Junior is also a Korn fan was evident from his Instagram post, where he and Jonathan Davis shared the frame when he visited the JR Motorsports shop back in 2018.

However, there is no denying that be it metal or other genres of music, fans with an avid interest look forward to these performances. Some impressive performances in recent years include those by the Osborne Brothers, who performed at the Nashville Superspeedway in 2022. Even the country artist Dierks Bentley performed at Daytona 500 race.
However, the fans were more than ecstatic with the fact Dale Jr’s team was playing the newly released Metallica song. And their comments are a proof of that. They were more than happy to know that Dale Jr is a fan of the legendary band.
One of the fans tweeted under the post, “Metal and NASCAR is a winning combination,” while another exclaimed, “As long as the front tire changer doesn’t get caught up in an air guitar moment.”
