Few things in life are so iconic that just a number floods fans with nostalgia, warmth, and adrenaline. And one such thing is just a few hours away from NASCAR fans. The race is set to happen at the fantastic South Carolina Speedway. And, the viewers would get to see a long off-tracked Chevrolet, in colors that they love (red, white, and black), with a number that might give goosebumps to some. And, the driver? The driver is someone funny, charitable, and extremely popular in the sport. Any guesses?
Well, we are here today to give you a glimpse into the driver, his legacy, and what some might say is the reunion of the century. Here is everything you might want to know about the cut-throat race and its competitors.

As we said, a legend with a legendary car will revive a legendary partnership on one of NASCAR’s race tracks today. And, some of us are ruining our nails in anticipation. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is racing the number 8 Budweiser Chevrolet today. And, like Tadd Haislop at NASCAR said, “This is not a drill!” At the South Caroline 400 at Florence Motor Speedway, we are all set to watch the stylized number 8 car, so many of us remember from our childhood. Yes, this is the car Earnhardt Jr. made famous between 1999 and 2007 in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Can you believe that it is today, that Earnhardt Jr. will race against 55 of the best short-track racers in America? From Cup Series star Josh BerryShort to track stars Brenden “Butterbean” Queen, Conner Jones, Tristan McKee, Brent Crews, and Treyten Lapcevich will be seen on the race track. However, there is serious doubt that anything else is garnering as much attention from media and fans alike as Jr. racing in the legendary #8.
“Amy knows all too well how uptight and nervous I get about racing and how badly I want to do well and I need to just kind of remember that I am just doing it to have fun, not to make it too competitive, and not to set too high expectations for myself. The girls are going, Amy is going and we are all gonna go back in the morning and try to enjoy it, try to enjoy the relationships and friendships. But, yes 250 laps! Hope I get good results. But in the end, it’s not the last race that I’ll run and I do enjoy being around the grassroots level of it,” Jr. said.

Will Dale Jr.'s return in the #8 Bud car reignite the magic of his glory days?
Have an interesting take?
Now that the race is hours away, Peter Stratta from ABC45 TV and owner of TSJ Sports 1 shared a clip of Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the NASCAR Awards on X. On the red carpet, Jr. can be seen fielding questions from another reporter and giving an honest response to those. The race car driver, team owner, and broadcaster downplayed one of the most iconic races he is about to undertake with much humility.
Earnhardt Jr’s nervousness was bound to happen. He’s not worn the iconic red firesuit for the No. 8 team in over a decade and a half ever since he left Dale Earnhardt Inc in 2007 after a fallout with the owner, Teresa Earnhardt. “It is an incredible opportunity for me to be able to reunite with Budweiser, and the No. 8,” Earnhardt had said sometime back via a press release release. “Budweiser and I had some great memories with that iconic scheme and number. We’ve always supported each other over the years. It’s going to be special for me to be able to represent that brand on the race track again.”
You might find it interesting here that Jr.’s association with Model Stock racing goes beyond the #8. He is quite invested in Late Model Stock racing and co-owns a CARS Tour. His team JR Motorsports competes a lot in these races.

Son of a NASCAR legend, Dale Earnhardt, and a NASCAR Hall of Famer, Dale Earnhardt Junior is set to compete in a limited series of late-model stock car races in 2024 and 2025. Though he makes limited starts in these races, he has led laps in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2023.
Now, one might argue that the stock races are more aggressive than Xfinity Series races, and making passes depends on a lot more than first cars. And, we say, Earnhardt Jr. is a veteran and highly experienced and knows his way around the Florence Speedway quite well.

In his last race, the 50-year-old took part in the Cheddars 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway qualifying in P13. A solid performance saw him finish the race in P7, even managing to lead a lap as he collected 34 points on the night for JR Motorsports. It might be worth noting here that sis 2023 effort even was stronger. And, if we look at his Cup series performance, we see 26 wins. Last year at the South Carolina 400, Kade Brown won, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 8th overall ahead of a young 17-year-old Connor Zilisch.
