In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Ryan Blaney ended a 59-race winless streak by delivering a spectacular performance in the rain-delayed Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This victory not only marked a personal triumph for Blaney but also a momentous achievement for team owner Roger Penske. With this win, Penske celebrated his first double win of the year with his drivers winning IndyCar’s most prestigious and NASCAR’s longest races, solidifying his position as a dominant force in both open-wheel and stock car racing.
In the latest episode of The Dale Jr. Download podcast, featuring Ryan Blaney, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr made an explosive announcement regarding the Watermelon Man, Ross Chastain. Dale Jr’s co-host Mike Davis was left bamboozled by the fact that Chastain was conspicuously absent from the controversy and drama that unfolded during the Coca-Cola 600.

During the podcast, Dale Jr explained that Chastain, who was set to appear on the show initially, canceled at the last minute due to some issue, which Junior chose not to elaborate on. He clarified that Chastain’s cancellation had nothing to do with his sub-par performance in the race. Junior and Davis playfully lamented the absence of Chastain from the race’s controversies, expressing their desire for him to be “in the middle of something.” They emphasized their eagerness to have Chastain on the show despite his lack of involvement in the dramatic events of the Coca-Cola 600.
Dale Jr further expressed his disappointment and added, “The one race with all the drama, 600 miles and all kinds of crap coming home and Ross is not involved in any of it. I was sitting there watching the 600 and I’m like, ‘Come on Ross, get in the middle of something.‘”
Davis supplemented with wonder, “It was weird, there were wrecks, there was controversy, there was even Almirola pushing Bubba Wallace. Ross was in the middle of none of it! […] And I don’t know what to do about that, Ross is always in the middle of it!”
The Trackhouse Racing Team’s star driver, who has gained notoriety for his on-track incidents and occasional off-track shenanigans, experienced a poor performance at the Charlotte Motor Speedway as he finished 22nd. However, despite this mediocre finish, Chastain continues to lead the points table, just one point ahead of Blaney.

The Coca-Cola 600 saw a significantly high number of wrecks—16 in all. This led to caution being called for 83 laps, including those in the final stage. Ryan Blaney held on to the lead for the last 20 laps, eventually winning by a margin of .663 seconds over Blaney, with Martin Truex Jr, Bubba Wallace, and Tyler Reddick following them.

One of the wrecks involving Kyle Larson set up the final green-flag run. Larson’s sideways slide and subsequent collisions with other front-running cars led to a severe multi-car pileup, collecting the likes of Christopher Bell, Ty Gibbs, Joey Logano, and Aric Almirola.
Another major incident occurred earlier in the race when defending race winner Denny Hamlin and fan favorite Chase Elliott were knocked out of contention. Elliott bumped into the outside wall and then made contact with Hamlin’s right rear, prompting Hamlin to accuse Elliott of intentional retaliation. However, although Elliott denied any deliberate action, he was slapped with a one-race suspension by the governing body.
