Junior stated, “to me, I didn’t see this guy did something wrong. I didn’t see anybody do anything wrong, that needs to be corrected or Rick doesn’t need to sit down with one or the other. He might want to sit down with both of them and say hey this is the way I view this.”
He added, “I can imagine what Rick would say, Rick’s probably happy that one of his cars won. He probably doesn’t have any real issue with the way it happened. But he probably wants them to not make it personal going forward right? Let’s not let this get ugly.”
“You guys are two great drivers, we got great race cars, which means at times we’re going to be racing each other in these moments and I expect you all to race as hard as you can for the win without taking either one of you out.”
Elliott was seen as highly upset regarding the entire situation that made him not only lose the race but also get relegated to fourth place.

As the final restart resumed, Elliott was in the lead but instead of taking the inside line for turn one, the 2020 Cup Series Champion decided to take the outside line while defending against his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Kyle Larson. But as turn one arrived, Larson locked up and forced an unlucky Elliott off the racing line, and onto the other side of the curb.
In the process, the Dawsonville native three four places while Larson took over the lead and ultimately the race win.
