Earnhardt Jr.’s advocacy for these tracks extends beyond physical racing. As a longtime supporter of iRacing, he recognizes the platform’s potential to preserve and promote historic tracks. iRacing’s detailed simulations allow drivers and fans to experience these venues virtually, ensuring their legacy endures for future generations. Earnhardt Jr. also revealed that iRacing has already scanned two of these tracks for the platform, with one still waiting for licensing. Notably, these tracks have historic significance. Berlin Raceway was a horse racetrack before the World War II. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been very vocal about it. Earlier this year he had said in reply to the track’s official tweet, “We need an @iRacing scanner to visit you next.” It’s worth noting that the track first opened its doors in 1951.

Businessman Michael Blackmer bought the track in 2008 and oversaw several renovations over the years. By 2016, it earned the designation of a NASCAR-sanctioned home track, hosting six-point divisions and welcoming travelling series like CRA Jegs, ARCA Super Series, and VROA.
