With over three decades in NASCAR, the Earnhardt siblings have seen it all. On one end, Dale Jr. focused on the speed and made many races on his name. At the same time, Kelley worked with the team for a smooth operation. Going back a few decades into memory lane, Dale Jr. revealed a dangerous incident from his childhood.

He explained, “One time, they left [Dale Earnhardt and Brenda] me and Kelley in the car and went inside. And Kelley knocked the car in gear. This was in the seventies when Mom and Dad were still together. And we ended up rolling down a hill, just kinda rolled to bump into a building or rolled to a stop. Nothing crazy. But we were they came, found they came, run down there, Yeah. I’m like 2 I’m like 2 or 3 years old, and I’m down in the floorboard of the car, and Kelley’s with a lighter, cigarette lighter.” He said on his podcast.

Looking back, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Kelley was behind the wheel at such a young age, barely 5 years old at the time. After all, Kelley drove in races alongside Dale Jr. as he kick-started with racing. She competed in races like Late Model races, significantly at Hickory Motor Speedway, and Myrtle Beach Speedway, learning her racing skills from her father. After 1996, she started focusing on her other work commitments. However, back in the 90s, men purely dominated motorsport, making it difficult for her to continue. But now she proudly carries on her co-owned racing team with Junior. Her cousin Tony Eury Jr. even revealed in an interview with ESPN, “She was very good at what she did. I raced her several times over at Tri-County. We thought she probably had as much or more talent than any of them.”

Back then, nobody knew what these small toddlers were gonna transform in a few years. When Junior followed his father’s legacy and started racing in a Late Model stock car at the age of 17, it’s laudable, how he took it from there to his Xfinity Series at 21, in which he bagged 2 times the championship for the consecutive year of 1998 and1999. Later, with his debut in the Cup Series, his aggressive moves on speedways like Daytona and Talladega made him popular among his fans.

No doubt, the siblings were mischievously naughty, whereas Earnhardt Jr. also shared that his favorite go-to toy during that time in his mother’s car was a cigarette lighter; that evoked a feeling of game as it went off and lit up. Though the danger of its burns was always there, still, Dale Jr. as a kid, did such things. Although, both were in their childhood, and still very fearless in taking up things and getting them done. Like, Kelley also herself had driven in racing at a young age, and Dale Jr. had a history of concussions in the races. Despite this, in parenting their children, they’re very much different compared to their parents.

Earnhardt siblings’ parenting goes against their childhood behavior

Even recently, Amy Earnhardt opened up about how kids inherit qualities from their parents and explained about his kids and Dale Jr. She shared a family conversation at Kenny Wallace’s show, “Genetics are so cool, watching them do anything as they grow. ‘Oh wow! That’s something I’d do,’ or ‘That’s absolutely Dale!’ Everything they do anything that’s like stinkery, I just tell Dale that’s his genetics. ‘What’s wrong with your kids? That’s you.’’

However, it looks like Nicole is more inclined toward Earnhardt’s legacy as her characteristics resemble the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. as well as, the Jr. Once, Dale Jr. shared this on Instagram, where Nicole posed in the yellow-color painted helmet of Sr. from Wrangler car in 1984.

As a mother, Kelley showed concern when her daughter, Karsyn, went into racing. She admires her daughter’s aspiration but on the other hand, she equally wants to be protective as a mother. As her daughter is active in midget racing, alongside her brother, and Kelley’s son, Wyatt Miller is tracing wins in the dirt racing, who won 2024, Restricted Micro Championship in Tulsa. As the fourth-generational drivers from the Earnhardt family seem to rise, the memories of the heart-winning brother and sister duo will get a chance to create more good moments together.
