You can take the Earnhardts out of racing, but not racing out of the Earnhardt family. It’s been ages since Dale Earnhardt Jr retired from full-time racing. However, that does not stop the third-generation driver from strapping himself in stock cars for selective races. The world of racing is something that runs deep in his veins, which he has inherited from his legendary father and grandfather, and it seems that his elder daughter has inherited the same genes.
Growing up in a racing family like the Earnhardt household, Dale Jr’s kids have been exposed to the fast track from an early age, be it witnessing him notch a victory or his team drivers doing the same. Looking back, he recalled the time his daughter had an “emotional” experience, watching a race with him.

The 2023 Xfinity season proved to be a favorable season for Dale Earnhardt Jr’s team JR Motorsports. Two out of the four championship-contending cars belonged under the banner of JR Motorsports. Both Sam Mayer and Justin Allgaier stood an equal chance to earn their maiden championships, but fate had other plans stored for them, as the drivers missed the championship by a whisker. In fact, the title continued to evade Allgaier, even after seven appearances in the showdown. He was so close to victory in the race at Phoenix, but an ill-timed flat tire threw a wrench in the driver’s path.
While Allgaier was heartbroken because of the near miss, so was Dale Earnhardt Jr’s daughter, Isla Rose Earnhardt. Recalling the incident, he expressed on his podcast, “Nicole is three years old. Nicole’s like ‘I want to get down. I want to go play’ and I was like Isla, ‘Do you want to get down? Do you want to go with your sister?'” To Junior’s surprise, the reply from the daughter came as a blatant ‘no.’
Dale Earnhardt Jr asserted, “Nope, I want to watch the finish of the race. And so I was like wow. Okay. we are gonna sit here and watch the finish. So me and her watched the finish of the race together for the very first time and she is starting to fall in love with the idea that JR Motorsports has got a chance to win this race. She is really starting to cheer for Justin louder and louder with each lap and starting to understand it’s starting to make sense and we are watching and all of a sudden, he goes in the corner and he spins out and crashes.”

“I cannot believe this thing is happening. I feel like I am having an out-of-the-body experience. I am like Isla, he is wrecked, he is wrecking. She was shocked and didn’t know why he wrecked and what does that mean and boy when she started to realize that was the end of his race, as she comes off this emotional high of being excited and all that, she got a little emotional,” Junior concluded.

While Sam Mayer seemed to be stuck in a stroke of poor luck and is yet to complete a race in its totality and was mired in a multitude of on-track incidents, his teammate Justin Allgaier had the hopes of earning his first victory in the season. However, the flat tire with just five laps to go shattered all his hopes.
With the occurrence of the Big One and the issuance of the red flag, Allgaier had taken the lead and seemed to be cruising on the track and created a lead of 3 seconds with JGR’s Chandler Smith, but a flat left rear tire sent the driver reeling on the track before slamming against the wall. This resulted in the driver limping back to the garage and calling it quits for the day.
Speaking to the media about his fateful day, he stated, “I definitely had to have run something over. I mean, wear-wise, there’s no way we were wearing the left-rear far enough to do that. Going through the dogleg, I felt it wiggle a little bit — and I kind of knew what that already meant. But at that point, there’s quick (five) laps to go and you’ve got to hope that it holds on. And unfortunately, it just blew out. As soon as I soon as I lifted, it blew out. That was the end of it.”
