After his win at the Talladega Super Speedway, Chase Elliott managed to make it to the headlines again. But this time it was not because of his on-track performance. In fact, it was about the incidents that followed after the race. And here is what Dale Earnhardt Jr has to say about it.

Chase Elliott’s race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway was not that great. The Hendrick Motorsport driver faced an array of frustrating situations throughout his time on the track. However, after the race, Elliott indulged in a brief scuffle with a cameraman.

When the Hendrick Motorsports driver spotted a camera pointed at him, he covered it with his hands and gestured to the cameraman to leave him alone. Moreover, when the cameraman took back a few steps, Elliott walked toward him and asked him to leave.

Many NASCAR enthusiasts criticized Elliott for his apparent misbehavior. And while talking about it on his podcast Dale Jr Download, Dale Earnhardt Jr defended the #18 driver. Explaining why he thinks people hate Elliott, Earnhardt said; “I like Chase a lot, I think Chase is a good dude. I think he gets a bad rep for sort of having no personality but I know he has one.”

Furthermore, he said that people compared Elliott with Jimmie Johnson and said that Chase likes to guard his personal life. Citing this as a major reason for the hate towards Elliott, Earnhardt continued;

“They just don’t like how guarded and hidden he keeps his personal life. But I think Chase is cool and he has never really done that before. So, that’s why I really am not gonna cast, I am not gonna be like too critical of this.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr stated that a lot of people compared Elliott’s actions with Kyle Busch’s. However, he said that this was not accurate. He explained that Busch has been involved in similar incidents multiple times whereas this is the first time Elliott had done something like this.

He further said; “Now, Chase does this multiple times going forward, then I think he might want to address it. He might wanna look in the mirror a little bit.

Make changes but I think the guy that just spun out at the last lap, he’s sitting there with a second lead or whatever he had, probably gonna win the race. Here’s a couple of things that are pissing him off at the moment.”

Although he said, “Not this it is excusing the move toward the cameraman,” he explained; “He is as pissed off as you are ever gonna find him in that moment. So, maybe hopefully that’s why he was a little bit out of the cut at that moment.”
