Carrying a licensed firearm is no offense. But doing so in a foreign country without permission can lead to trouble. Kyle Busch seems to have forgotten exactly this when he headed to Mexico carrying a handgun. Fortunately, he went let off without too having to face dire consequences. Well, one consequence is the fact that Dale Earnhardt Jr now thinks completely differently of him.
Kyle Busch was detained for illegally carrying a concealed firearm in Mexico. The Richard Childress Racing driver was allegedly carrying a “caliber pistol-type firearm inside .38 with magazine stocked with six useful hollow point cartridges.” A NASCAR driver getting detained is bound to raise eyebrows—even more so in the case of someone like Busch.
But for Dale Earnhardt Jr, it brought more of a question mark because he simply didn’t believe it. In fact, he talked about it in a recent episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast as he said, “I had to go and see if it was true.”

He further added, “I didn’t know whether it was a real story or not, whether it was some type of [story] you know, where you check the Twitter handle and make sure it’s not a parody account.”
“I just was questioning whether it was real or not. I’m like, you know, just like anybody else. Like, what? Yeah. Is this real? Yeah. Well, and then,” he continued.

Dale Jr didn’t believe that Kyle Busch would carry a gun
The most surprising part of the story is the fact that Dale Jr simply didn’t believe that Busch would be the person who’d carry a weapon. He admitted, “I didn’t see Kyle Busch as the kind with a concealed carry permit.” Well, he was just as surprised as everyone else was when they read the news.
Luckily, the RCR driver did not really face any major consequences on the NASCAR front because he isn’t being handed any penalty by the organization. So hopefully, he will carry on as usual and not let the incident with Mexican authorities fluster him.
