A lot has been said, theorized, argued, and hypothesized about the late-race incident between Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson at the Glen last weekend. If you decide to make up your mind according to popular belief, then it’s the #5 who was majorly at fault.
However, Dale Earnhardt Jr. thinks otherwise.
This is not to say that the former NASCAR driver is saying one was at fault or more at fault than the other, instead, Junior simply believed what happened was a racing incident in which Elliott could’ve had more of a say.

“I think it was interesting that Chase took that outside, I think that Chase may have expected too much from Larson in terms of, ‘Hey, take care of me. I’m gonna start over here, okay? So don’t use me up,'” Earnhardt Jr. said. “Maybe Chase was expecting a little too much help from a teammate at that moment.”
“To me, it’s hard racing, it’s the end of the race, it’s the last restart, the guy is your teammate, there is some level of responsibility not to wreck your teammate, but you’ve gotta race for the win.”

“There’s a list of people that are responsible for the #5 car that expects Larson to go out there and to not take care of his teammate and run 2nd; they expect him to go out there and do what it takes to win,” Earnhardt Jr. emphasized.
Now, Larson’s win did come “at the expense of his teammate” but that is something which, according to Dale Jr., is inevitable.

“You have two guys that are great drivers, two guys that have great racecars, and sometimes that means they’re gonna find themselves together upfront,” he added.
