Kyle Busch announced on Tuesday that he has signed a multi-year contract with Richard Childress Racing. After not being able to strike a deal with long-time sponsor Joe Gibbs Racing, this announcement was a sigh of relief for all Kyle Busch fans.

However, right before his announcement, Kyle Busch welcomed the press with the words; “Welcome to the press conference about the announcement that’s already been made.” And the entire NASCAR community got the cheeky reference.

On September 9, 2022, Dale Earnhardt Jr posted an emoji of a tree that most people interpreted to be a bush. Following the tree was a finger directed towards a number 8 magic ball. Since Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick was driving the #8, people assumed that Busch was moving to RCR.

And now, since the news is official, it could be said that Earnhardt Jr did have some insider information surrounding the topic. In a recent episode of Dale Jr Download, the host told Earnhardt Jr about Busch’s opening sentence. And his co-host Mike Davis told him that Busch’s statement was clearly a shot at him.

Laughing about the statement Earnhardt didn’t want to accept that he revealed the big news before time. He said; “And everybody else was talking about it. Why are you doing that? I don’t like that Mike!”

Kyle Busch is onboard with RCR

Tyler Reddick recently announced that he would be leaving Richard Childress Racing and joining 23XI Racing in 2024. And this sent Austin Dillon thinking about who is the best fit for RCR. Kyle Busch being his obvious choice, Austin forwarded his suggestion to his grandfather, Richard Childress.

With a new crew chief, car and team, Kyle Busch is ecstatic about his fresh start. In an interview after the announcement, he said;

“I’m hopeful that a fresh start can kind of clean up some of the aggravations of mistakes and things like that that have kind of happened over the last couple of years on my side of things. But just also to see the investment and everything that Chevrolet has been putting into the sport. And their new tech center and all that is intriguing. Looking forward to seeing what all that’s all about.
