After Hendrick Motorsports landed at the center of controversy, now it is Kaulig Racing’s turn for the same. However, things might not go as well as they went with HMS. A little while ago, JGR driver Denny Hamlin mentioned that the team was “innocent” of any wrongdoings. But as time edges closer towards judgment day, former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr believes that Kaulig Racing may not enjoy the same treatment as Hendrick Motorsports.
Dale Earnhardt Jr thinks NASCAR will not extend Hendrick Motorsports treatment to Kaulig Racing
In the latest episode of his ‘Dale Jr. Download’ Podcast, Junior mentioned, “I thought that they have to give Kaulig the same. I can’t understand how you can’t basically give Kaulig the same treatment that you gave HMS… Kaulig absolutely is communicating. Has to be communicating with HMS going, ‘Hey, man, what do you think helped you in this scenario? That we can use in our own appeal?'”

“And, you know, I don’t know if Kaulig has the receipts, has the text messages, has the emails that would show the appeal panel. ‘Hey, man, you know, there was communication here that gave us the idea that we were able to do these types of things.'”
Adding, “We’ll see how they treat Kaulig on this. Kaulig only had one louver wrong. But the other one wasn’t wrong. Yeah, like why would you?”
He concluded, “It’s not a blatant act of cheating because it’s like it was more…That appears to me to be more of a mistake than anything, right?”
What were the penalties handed out to Kaulig Racing?

It was Justin Haley, whose car landed in trouble. Just fresh from the Hendrick Motorsports controversy, Kaulig Racing too was handed a massive penalty. Their reprimand was centered on the modification of the car’s radiator duct.
NASCAR handed them 100 drivers and owner points, along with a $100,000 fine for all crew chiefs. However, Josh Berry was only handed owners point dock, instead of drivers points. The team also had 10 playoff points deducted from them. This decision would have significantly hurt the team’s running this year. But the team promptly decided to appeal the decision.

With the partial revoke of the points duck from HMS after their appeal, there might be a slight hope that Kaulig too might be able to get away with it. But if Dale Earnhardt Jr’s comments are to be considered, chances for the appeal to work look slim. All we can do at this moment is wait for judgment day to arrive.
