Chase Elliott is a man of a few words. He is rarely seen voicing his opinions about matters on and off track. Recently after the Championship ending race at Phoenix Raceway, Elliott was asked what he thought about the contact with Ross Chastain. However, the kid from Dawsonville chose to completely ignore the question and say something else entirely. Later on, Dale Jr speculated the reason why would Elliott have answered in such a way.

Junior said, I think that if they were going to another race the next weekend, he would have said more. Why was Chase Elliott angry with Ross Chastain in the first place?

Elliott had his entire championship battle at the final race completely ruined after he found himself facing the other way around. What happened? Well, he got Chastained, kind of.

Drivers will always say that they are innocent in matters like this and then point fingers at each other. However, most people believed that the incident during the restart between Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott was just another racing incident and nothing to be blamed upon any of the drivers in question.

Elliott might have been upset about his championship hopes going down the drain, but right before talking to any of the media personnel, Hendrick Motorsport Vice President, Jeff Gordon had a word with Elliott and probably the media trained him already. This is where Dale Jr’s point seems to sound valid, that Elliott probably did not want to end the season blaming others, but rather with a positive message.
