Dale Earnhardt Jr is one of the most famous NASCAR drivers. The reason for it would obviously be the Earnhardt legacy in NASCAR, but his presence in the media also is a huge factor. His Dale Jr Download podcast is frequented by celebrities regularly. And among those guests has been Bubba Wallace.

As a result of their shared time in NASCAR as well as being a guest on Dale Earnhardt Jr’s podcast, he and Bubba Wallace have a really good friendship. That friendship was clearly visible in this video we found from 2018. Bubba had a massive wreck that season in Pocono, and the $300 million man wanted to immortalize that moment in his famous graveyard.

Dale Jr said, “Hey, Dale Jr, what y’all doing?” Bubba said, Hey! (excitedly) What’s up brother?” Dale then said, Everything’s good! I was calling in to see if Bubba would let me have that car for the graveyard.” Bubba interjected, You know what’s funny? After I gathered my marbles and everything, I was like this car would be awesome in the graveyard. No lie. [Did that really cross your mind?] It really did.

The host added, “We said it on MRN. After we knew Bubba was okay, we were like “Man I bet you this car ends up in Dale Jr’s graveyard.” Dale then said, You know the funny thing is I’m getting less and less cars these days. Its because I think the cars are getting a little more tricky. People are worried about their secrets getting outside so I ain’t getting so many cars.”

Half-jokingly Bubba said “You ain’t gotta worry about ours. We’re still trying to come up with them secrets,” before concluding with I’ll send in a text so I’ll let you know but I think they’ll be cool.”

Do drivers ever revisit their moments of horror?

Racing in NASCAR is a hazardous job, and its risks are well-known to drivers, teams, and fans. There have been dark days in NASCAR’s past. But not all accidents cause equal amounts of damage. But it still must be traumatic for drivers to revisit that moment, isn’t it?

The host asked exactly that, “I wondered if drivers go to see their race cars in your graveyard. Like does anybody go visit their bygone cars once they make it to your graveyard?” Dale answered, “I mean if someone wanted to see something up there, I would be happy to show ‘em.”

“I told you know Larson and all those guys if they want to bring their kids, run them throughout here on the golf cart or something, that’d be cool. We’d be happy to show ‘em around. Clint lives kinda close by so… The cars, we just kinda store them out in the woods and let the weeds grow over them.”

“It disappears in the summertime when it greens up and then they pop back up in the wintertime when the leaves fall off everything and everything dies down. Pretty cool, we have about 60-80 cars back there… we call around see if anybody’s got something laying around…”

Dale Jr also revealed, “My favorite is probably the Juan Pablo car that crashed into the jet dryer. Yeah, I called Chip to get it and Chip said you can have it as long as you don’t ever show any pictures or put it on video and show anybody you have it. But I guess I’m able to talk about it.”
