Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s life has always been loud—racing wins, crashes, and the pure adrenaline rush that comes from being behind the wheel. Remember that tough 2018 Clash call when Amy said it was “not worth the risk to health” for him to race despite the danger? But over the last few years, there has been a gradual shift thanks to his marriage to Amy and subsequent retirement in 2017. It’s a sweet twist for the NASCAR legend, who has traded some racetrack chaos for country life. The man once obsessed with collecting Cup wins, is now busy adding new members to his 300-acre property in North Carolina property.

It is no secret that Dale Jr. is a pet lover. Right from his childhood when he owned hamsters, which were named after characters from the Days of Our Lives to the 2017 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway when his No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet featured a decal of Marshall, a one-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer. And now with his wife Amy, he seems to be developing a new interest in barn animals.

Amy Earnhardt has family farms in Victoria, Texas, and often spends time at her property. Last year, the Earnhardt family took a trip to Carrigan Farms in Mooresville, North Carolina, and had a good time plucking fresh apples. Earnhardt Jr. himself owns a property that houses a paintball course, a golf course, and animals including buffalo. Recently talked about the newest additions to their farm family.

During an appearance on their unfiltered podcast Bless Your Hardt, Dale Jr. brought up, “We got four new donkeys,” adding that they rescued them and that they are up to “six donkeys,” before Amy corrected him and said, “Actually 5 donkeys and a mule,” before revealing further details.

“So, the new donkeys’ names are Gus, then we have Pumpkin, who is the baby, Girly and Momma,” she said. Earlier, she took to her IG stories to upload photos of their newest farm animals. She posted a photo of Pumpkin and Momma with the caption, “Meet some of our new donkey bb’s.” But that’s not all. During the podcast, Amy talked about how their youngest daughter Nicole Lorraine has taken a liking to them.

“You wanna know something cute that Lorraine told me to do? She said, ‘I sing to them every day and I sing you’re my sunshine and they will come right to me. So, yesterday we were taking a little walk and Isla (eldest daughter) was standing at the fence, singing like her best song to these sweet little donkeys and the three of them were standing right at the fence, all their noses next to each other. It was the cutest thing,” she mentioned.  Later in the podcast, they were asked what animal they would like to own if they had the choice.

Amy mentioned, “Any animal in the whole wide world as a dream? Pretty jealous of the swans that Cletus has, peacocks are also kind of up there as a flex.” She then added, “Living out in the country, I don’t know, I’d like to have some goats, I want a new barn.” Amy’s St. Patrick’s Day photo earlier this year of her with Isla in green, beaming showed how much family means to her. Now, she’s blending that love with this animal adventure. She has big ideas for swans, peacocks, goats, and nobody can blame her.
