Like how one car enthusiast can appreciate another car enthusiast’s collection, the same is true of computer gaming. Folks, your setup is everything if you are a gamer! And the biggest gamer in NASCAR is none other than Dale Earnhardt Jr! Remember last year when he was heavily into playing a game called ‘Hell Let Loose’ and was basically addicted to it. But this not a newfound passion; Junior has been a computer gamer for a long time! In 2020, he even built his own custom computer, like all big gamers do. Long before that, he spent hours playing on computers with Martin Truex Jr. when the two drivers lived together in the 2000s.

Fast forward to 2025…he’s getting jealous of basketball legend Kevin Durant’s new setup!

Yes. The NBA star is a gamer at heart, too. It was his mother’s Christmas present during his childhood that got him into gaming. And ever since, Durant has been locked it. In a household where there was nothing much to do but watch TV, he got an escape through video games. And fast forward to today, he’s probably got one of the best computer gaming setups there is!

Recently, Kevin Durant shared an X post with his new gaming setup. Where he captioned the post, New PC with RTX 5090 and OLED 4k monitor.. Thanks to @msiUSA for the parts and my family, @Brparado for setting me up. Let me go put in this 8 hour shift in the zone.”

Duran’s got a Motorola Solutions setup. And for those of you who don’t know, they have a net worth of $71.56 billion, and they are one of the best in the business. So Duran’s basically in for a top-notch gaming experience. And that’s probably why Dale Earnhardt Jr. could not help but react. He replied to Duran’s post with a bunch of fire emoticons. Take a look:

Dale Jr’s been into racing since the 1990s. There was a game back then called ‘NASCAR Racing,’ And Junior would spend a lot of his time there. Back in 2020, he had said, “This hobby started back in the mid-90s. I learned over the years how to upgrade hardware. I’d never built my own PC though. I built one this week and really enjoyed it. It went really smooth but I don’t mind that occasional hiccup.” And if you are a gamer, you’d know how seriously folks take building a custom computer. It is often considered a piece of art. Just like building a racecar in the garage is.

And based on Dale Jr’s 2020 post, his own PC setup doesn’t look half bad. The PC is covered in a transparent glass case with over six fans and a digital cooling system. Although the specs of the PC remain unclear, the graphics card looks like a GeForce RTX card, a very expensive and incredible computer part to have. And this was five years back, so probably Junior must have made a few upgrades to be able to play today’s high-definition games. And Junior had back then also confessed that had he not been a race car driver, he would most likely be in IT.

Dale Jr. vs. Kevin Durant: Who's got the ultimate gaming setup to rule them all?

Have an interesting take?

This isn’t the first time Junior’s gamer side has emerged. His wife Amy revealed his ‘nocturnal side’ from when they were young. “He was completely nocturnal by choice. He played video games, raced or did all that in the middle of the night and then slept as much as he could during the day…um…so yeah that was kind of a pattern for him, made partying all night a little bit easier I guess.”

Dale Jr. had backed it up with stories of his time living with MTJ. “I bought four identical computers, and a year goes down the road; all that crap is obsolete. Four brand-new computers come back in the house; we’re in there upgrading, updating, installing; everybody’s got a wheel. I mean, we had it set up. We had a lot of fun; we raced all night long, slept all day, ate junk, drank beer, and he drank Captain; that’s his drink; he’s a Captain Morgan guy.”

Also, folks, Dale Jr is not a one-time gaming enthusiast; he’s just as serious as some professionals out there.

Dale Earnhardt Jr wins in College Football

Yes, there is a virtual game of college football, and Junior is the most recent national champion. Junior recently revealed. “I don’t know if everybody can see this but this is my gift from Charlotte – the 49ers UNCC. I started as a one-star in Charlotte and recruited them up to a four-and-a-half star and beat Michigan, who’s a buddy of mine. He was the best man at my wedding – TJ Majors…Well, I recruited, I worked hard.” This was how Dale Jr explained successfully managing a virtual college football team.

And when we said he’s a serious gamer…he’s got whole sorts of plans on his iPad about his virtual team. “This is my iPad – my own personal iPad. So I have a spreadsheet on my dynasty – this is my offense…Red is seniors, juniors – you know, it’s color-coded. So that is my depth chart – this is my playbook. These are all run plays, these are pass plays, RPOs, screens. I will then rank them in their ability to gain yards. And then I will customize my playbook,” Junior added.

Also, if you are a NASCAR fan plus into gaming…you are in luck. Dale Jr is working closely with the ‘NASCAR 25’ game, and with the kind of passion he’s got for gaming, it ought to be good. According to the makers, it’s massively better than the last NASCAR game, ‘NASCAR 21: Ignition.’ Be it in terms of the details, the graphics, or basically everything. The biggest improvement for most fans is Dale Jr. stepping in to develop the game with the iRacing banner. Ever since iRacing purchased the NASCAR license for $5 million, fans have been over the moon because it would mean a better product given to them.
