Denny Hamlin is certainly among the NASCAR stars who somehow have always been handed a short stick by Lady Luck. Despite a successful Cup Series racing career, the veteran driver somehow just can’t reach the pinnacle of the sport. The Florida native, after two back-to-back disappointments at the start of the Cup season, has finally managed to turn a corner. However, this time it’s not the racetrack, but a game of BlackJack where the veteran driver has struck gold. Just ahead of his third race at Vegas this weekend, Hamlin decided to make his trip worthwhile and decided to place his bets on a game of BlackJack.
The 43-year-old seems to be counting his lucky stars after winning a whopping $300,000 in a game of blackjack in Las Vegas. Yes, you heard it right. It’s not that Hamlin was not made to work for the win on the table, but it can be said that luck does fare him better on the casino tables than on the race tracks.
Just like the races, Hamlin had to ace the rounds before entering the final round of the game. Interestingly, he decided to go all-in with his hunch in the second round, and he looked confident in his approach. The next thing you know, he makes it into the finals, and he thus needed to come up with a decisive play on his last move. And to the surprise of everybody, NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin bagged himself a staggering $300K, thus already making the most of his Vegas trip. While the Cup Series championship seems to keep the driver at arm’s length, BlackJack seems to be agreeing with Hamlin.

FedEx’s decision to scale back on their spending could affect Hamlin severely
For quite some time, the fans and NASCAR community have been accustomed to seeing Denny Hamlin in the purple-orange colors of his long-time sponsor, FedEx. However, in light of recent developments, the shipping company is reportedly looking to cut costs, and this move could well see Hamlin lose out on his long-term sponsor. It’s not just the JGR driver who finds himself in the pickle but also the NFL team Washington Commanders.

In an official statement to the Associated Press, FedEx stated, “We continuously review our marketing programs to ensure our investments are aligned with our evolving business objectives. As part of this review, we have decided to not continue as the naming rights sponsor of FedEx Field as we focus on our broader NFL sponsorship and opportunities that reflect our global footprint.”
However, despite the company pulling back from the NFL, they are in association with the JGR driver for the season. And a potential fallout between the two is not expected anytime soon.
