It’s not very often that almost all the top-name entities in a sport come together to criticize an aspect of the sport itself. But this is exactly the case in NASCAR currently with drivers like Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Chase Elliott, and Kyle Larson all singing in the same key, the song against the Next Gen car.
In fact, not only is the fact common that they’re all united in their criticisms, but some of the things they’re saying are also pretty similar.
Just consider what Kyle Larson recently said and how it fits with Denny Hamlin’s suggestions.

Ahead of the Cup Series race at ROVAL, the defending champion opened up on NASCAR, being “in a box” with the Next Gen car.
“They’re obviously working on things but they are in a box with this car being quite a bit different than the previous car but they’re working towards trying to make things a little bit better on it,” he said. “Still, what they’ve learned is not as good as what the previous car still, but it’s a decent improvement so that side of things is good.”
Larson described how the rear of the new car is “much shorter” than the Gen 6 car which was only natural considering NASCAR’s priorities while designing it.
“There is a box they’re trying to work within,” he added.
Kyle Larson said the data they saw from the crash test would indicate improvements when it comes to rear impacts but not to the level of where they were with the previous car (which is unlikely achievable with this current overall design). pic.twitter.com/ciF75qUPjE

Larson’s pointers incited the NASCAR fans to further their criticisms of the new car as many of them suggested they go back to the old Gen 6 car considering the tricky situation with this one.
Change the car then. If it's not safe it's a failure. Sure racing is dangerous but if the old car was safer that's not acceptable.

So less safe than the old car. Going backwards in safety is not acceptable.

Which is why the should have never put this car on track

So nascar wants more track variety with only one type of car. SMH

Which is why Denny said what he said. "This car needs to be completely redesigned." Question is, who pays for it…my opinion, NASCAR should!

Go back to a race car chassis instead of these go karts. They are too rigid.

Go back to the early gen 6 design and aero package. Make the drivers and the fans happy.

The comments from Denny Hamlin which Kyle Larson echoed as well
Ahead of the race at Talladega last weekend, Denny Hamlin who has been on the front line in the criticism army against the Next Gen car, made a rather huge suggestion in order to ‘fix’ things.
“The car needs to be redesigned,” Hamlin said. “It needs a full redesign. I mean, it can still be called Next Gen, but it needs to be redesigned. It needs to be redesigned everywhere — front, middle, rear, competition.”

“The whole thing needs to be redesigned.”
With that said, do you think NASCAR can actually redesign the Next Gen car completely? Or will it continue to be the way it is with some damage control measures installed?
