MBM Motorsports has been keeping their pursuit of stringing new partnerships and driver moves in the shadows that have kept fans on their toes. The team signed a multi-race sponsorship deal with 2ONE Nicotine Pouches, allowing drivers like Josh Bilicki and Chad Finchum to get behind the wheel of the No. 66 car, showcasing their potential in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Meanwhile, MBM has also been securing more sponsorships to bolster their efforts, including a notable partnership with AES Restaurant Group, supporting Josh Bilicki’s return in the Cup Series, and a deal with personal care brand ‘W’, which backed Timmy Hill during the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington. The team even attracted XINSURANCE for Parker Retzlaff’s run at Richmond Raceway, and the rock band Falling In Reverse lent their name to B.J. McLeod’s Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis. With everything happening for the team, what will it all lead up to? Carl Long reveals what is in store for MBM’s future and it looks like it all starts from Daytona.

Carl Long, the owner of MBM Motorsports, is preparing for one of the biggest gambles of his racing career as he sets his sights on making the 2025 Daytona 500. In a recent conversation with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Long shared the bold move his team is making: leasing a Ford engine from Yates Racing in hopes of securing a spot in NASCAR’s biggest race.

“We are definitely going to do the Daytona 500,” Long confidently stated. “The car we had at Martinsville is already torn down, and we’re putting it back together to maximize what we need to do for Daytona.” The decision to lease the engine instead of using their own is a huge step for Long and his team. “We have a contract in place with Yates to lease an engine instead of using our own, which is kind of a gamble,” he explained.

It’s clear that this is no small risk for MBM Motorsports. Long acknowledged that without the high-end technology that comes with top-tier engines, it’s a tough battle to make a splash in a race like the Daytona 500. “I know I won’t be able to get sponsorship or drivers to run our brand of engines that we use in most places. If you’re going to run the 500, we don’t have the technology behind us with a little plate motor,” Long admitted.

But despite the odds, Long is optimistic that the move will pay off. “We decided to make the gamble, believing that if we get the engine and have Yates’ backing, we’ll be able to sign a driver.”

As for who that driver might be, Long is sticking with the familiar faces that have supported his team. “I like to keep the drivers we have, like Josh Fincham, Timmy Hill, and David Starr, who have been helping and bringing money to our table,” he shared. “These are good people, and if they can bring in dollars and come to us, that’s great.”

For Carl Long, the road to the Daytona 500 is paved with calculated risks and a lot of hope, but with the backing of Yates Racing and a little faith in his drivers, he’s all in for the challenge.
