The Indianapolis 500 is one of the most prestigious races in the United States, maybe even in the world. So is it really surprising that the icons of the motorsports world, dream of competing in it? According to reports, Chastain admitted that he was entertaining such thoughts. As it turned out, the #1 Trackhouse Racing driver happened to bump into IndyCar driver Conor Daly. This occurred during their respective simulator sessions and the two got talking. Evidently, Daly made a great sales pitch and the seed was planted in Chastain’s mind.

Will Ross Chastain actually compete in the Indianapolis 500?

The driver has confessed that the iconic race has not exactly been at the top of his priority list. Instead, he wanted to focus on his NASCAR Cup Series career and hopefully try to win a championship. However, he is not ruling it out completely because he is the type of person who relishes competition. Obviously, the 2023 Indy 500 is out of the question, as it is far too close and he would be a sitting duck with little to no preparation.

Kyle Larson evidently had the same idea, because the Hendrick Motorsports driver is targeting 2024. Who knows, maybe Ross Chastain could think that 2024 is a good time for him to compete. That would give him time to prepare to tackle the event. After all, participating in the Indianapolis 500 is one thing. However, competing for a win is a completely different ball game.
