As NASCAR’s Silly Season continues and the 2021 season nears, the anticipation of a NASCAR return for Kyle Larson continues to grow rapidly. The talented driver had expressed his intentions of returning, but he is yet to officially apply for reinstatement.
However, given his comments in a recent interview, it seems the door for Larson’s NASCAR return will be blown wide open. The 28-year-old was suspended from NASCAR back in April for using a racial slur during an online racing event.

Kyle Larson speaks about a NASCAR return
“I would fully understand if I was never allowed to race another NASCAR race again. I hope I will get that opportunity to race with them. With that platform, I think I could do some good things,” Larson said.
He added that the last six months away from NASCAR seen him grow. “I feel like I’ve definitely grown more in these last six months than I have in the 20 years that I’ve been alive,” Larson added.
There was a lot of confusion lately as to what is causing the delay behind Larson’s reinstatement. However, his comments indicate the reinstatement is not far away.

It was originally believed that Larson could replace none other than Jimmie Johnson in the No. 48 car. However, Alex Bowman is set to take up that spot next year. That leaves Bowman’s No. 88 car at Hendrick up for grabs.
In a recent episode on his podcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr., a former driver of the No. 88 car, sparked rumors of the No. 88 car soon changing to the No. 5 car at Hendrick Motorsports. He says that could help the new driver of the car start from scratch with a new team and make his own identity and legacy, rather than taking over from another driver.
