This weekend is the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Kansas Speedway. This is the second race in the Round of 8 that will determine the Championship 4 at Phoenix. However, there are a few worried looks being cast towards the skies. According to some reports, the Kansas Speedway can expect a couple of showers on Saturday.
Unfortunately, the same reports also suggest that Sunday could witness worse conditions. To be precise, there is a chance of intermittent periods of rain and a possible thunder storm. This could be quite worrisome for the seven remaining Playoff drivers. If in the worst case scenario, the race is called off, it means one less race to seal a Final 4 berth.
What can the NASCAR drivers do at Kansas?

To be honest, all that they can do is pray that their respective races are uninterrupted. This is because, there are two championships to be decided, the Cup and the Xfinity Series. If this race is too badly affected by the weather, there is a danger of drivers resorting to desperate tactics to try and stay in the competition.
Already, there are tensions flaring between Playoff and non-Playoff drivers for the latter’s interference. Naturally, the weather conditions do little to ease the situation. At the end of the day, a compromised Kansas NASCAR Cup and Xfinity race could pile on more pressure on the next race in Martinsville.
Last year bore witness to a fair few questionable and desperate tactics employed. Kyle Busch can certainly attest to that, having been an unwilling victim of one, courtesy Kevin Harvick. The latter still lost his chance to advance to the Championship 4 that year, so his move backfired. Hopefully for the current crop of drivers, none of the Playoff drivers will attempt last gasp lunges and odd tactics to stay in contention.
