NASCAR’s silly season just keeps getting better! After a frantic shuffling of SHR drivers making their way to their new home, it seems like the community has caught a whiff of a big move that could unfold next. And the reason for the rumor mills running overtime is the announcement made by Corey LaJoie that he won’t continue with Spire Motorsports after 2024.
Spire, for the moment, is one driver short, given that LaJoie is now vacating the No. 7 seat. While there were several drivers rumored to land at Spire in 2025, Kyle Busch has now become a hot pick for fans on social media. This speculation further caught fire when a NASCAR Insider shared his take on Busch ditching Richard Childress Racing to join a new team in 2025.
“Gotta wonder if Spire is gonna give RCR a call. Imagine the cruel irony if they bought out Busch and put him in the 7 to replace LaJoie,” said Eric Estepp, via X. The irony part referred to here is the recent incident that happened between Kyle Busch and Corey LaJoie at Pocono. LaJoie intentionally took out Rowdy from the race on a late-race restart and had no remorse over his actions.

In response, Busch stated that payback is incoming for the driver of the No. 7 Spire Chevy. Usually, the favor in such instances is returned on the racetrack, basically wrecking out the rival racer. However, the RCR star replacing LaJoie would be an even better comeback story. Fans certainly didn’t hesitate to imagine Rowdy leaving RCR to join Spire next year. They did make some valid arguments that could see the 2-time Cup Series champ possibly making the biggest move of this silly season.
Fans believe Kyle Busch joining Spire Motorsports in 2025 is more than a rumor
With the kind of season he’s been having, all Kyle Busch’s ardent fans need right now is a glimmer of hope. And they certainly found it with him being linked to a new team, albeit through rumor and speculations for the time being. “do it, KFB does not deserve to have his talents wasted, when he could go work with rodney.” Changes often come as a bunch, and not alone. So, who knows?

Spire has got Gainbridge as the primary sponsor for the No. 7 team. They acquired a third charter for $40 million, and they were able to secure the services of veteran crew chief Rodney Childers. Rowdy is under contract at RCR until 2025; therefore, Spire might need to break the bank to get him onboard. Now, Spire is not known to hold up dollars when it comes to developing their program. And this fan was confident that they would be able to pull this move off, “Remember Spire isn’t afraid to spend big bucks.” The Rodney-Kyle combo is something fans haven’t had enough of.

There were a few concerns regarding the chemistry between Busch and Rodney with the No. 7 team. But fans agreed that they would like to see him at an organization that is ambitious and willing to be competitive. RCR certainly can’t compete against that combo, “I’m not sure how well Rodney Childers and KFB would fit together, but what you cannot deny is that Busch would have a good car under him.”
Spire Motorsports once used to be the Kyle Busch Motorsports team in the Truck Series. However, last year Rowdy sold his entire race shop and the team to his friend Jeff Dickerson, who now co-owns the team. So his move to the team would be seen as him returning to his old home with just a fancy makeover. “If Kyle does wind up there, at least he’ll be close with his old Truck team again.” Who doesn’t like reunions, eh? And this move might be the thrust Rowdy has been missing for a moment.

Apart from the three wins with RCR, Busch certainly has hit new career lows driving the No. 8 Chevy. Although some of the fans weren’t convinced about Spire’s ability to back a driver like Busch, they would agree to anything to see him get out of his current misery: “I’d take that just free Kyle Busch from that mess.”
Given how frantic and full of surprises this silly season has turned out to be, Kyle Busch making the big move certainly would turn out to be a show-stopper. And perhaps this just might turn the sails in his favor after a torrid time at RCR.
