Corey Lajoie is like an unstoppable force and Kyle Busch is like an immovable object. Needlessly said, a direct hit between the two would result in a lot of collateral damage. The damage is, each of the teams scuffling with each other. One would normally think that Lajoie would never say good things about Kyle Busch, especially not after what had happened a few months back at Martinsville when both the drivers slammed each other with only 200 laps to go. However, in a recent episode of LaJoie’s podcast Stacking Pennies, the Spire Motorsports driver expressed his confidence in the number 8 RCR driver.

A lot of anticipation follows the Cup race at Richmond

With just 4 races to go till the first round of the playoffs, everyone in NASCAR is feeling the stir in their veins. Everyone is forming their own speculations regarding who could break through, or how an unprecedented event could change the trajectory of the game. Corey LaJoie spoke with Skip Flores about who he thinks could be the most active player in Richmond.

LaJoie admitted that Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick would tie if he had to answer that question. He felt like both these drivers never fail to bring their best games in every race. However, the #7 driver mentioned that he roots for Richard Childress Racing and, more interestingly, for Kyle Busch.

“Historically with the old cars, Richard Childress brought decent stuff there almost every time,” he said, “I just think Kyle Busch has been really good there in the past too and he’s talked about the trans of things so I am interested to see what the 8-car can do…”

After an impressive p3 finish today at Richmond Raceway, it is quite normal for LaJoie to be confident about the KBM owner. However, if we go back a few months to the 0.5-mile short track of Martinsville speedway, the equation between the two did not look half as friendly.

An incident from the NOCO 400 involved the star drivers of Richard Childress Racing and Spire Motorsports. The #8 and #7 were seen nudging each other during the 400-lap-long race.

According to Corey, Rowdy hit the former’s left rear quarter panel not one but 4 times. As a payback to that, LaJoie pushed Busch toward the inside wall. Busch reacted to that by bumping into LaJoie on one of the turns.

During a post-race interview, Busch said, “He has been a pain in the d**k to race with and pass for years, just coming up and lapping him and things like that. Every time I’m around him, it’s like he tries an extra 20 percent harder to make sure I stay behind him.”

Busch also called the NASCAR officials out for being inconsistent in penalizing drivers for intentional contact, especially after they had handed a penalty to Denny Hamlin for a similar incident.
