Over the past few weeks, Spire Motorsports has been very busy in the market. Now the latest development is a brand new sponsor for Corey LaJoie. To be precise, the Chili’s restaurant franchise will be LaJoie’s primary sponsor for the season-opening Daytona 500. It is also worth mentioning that the franchise will also associate itself with Corey LaJoie for a few more races in the 2024 campaign.

Spire Motorsports has been on a spending spree, in its bid to move higher up the pack. They started by purchasing a third charter from Live Fast Motorsports and Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Truck Series. The organisation also made several new hires, including crew chiefs, and are finally tackling sponsors, with Chili’s as the latest acquisition.

To be honest, LaJoie and Spire Motorsports are serious about their ambitions. In all, the team has spent over $54 million for the Live Fast and Kyle Busch Motorsports acquisitions. Without a doubt, more would have been spent on the other recent hires, as well as sponsors.

Speaking about the Chili’s sponsorship, team co-owner Jeff Dickerson said, “We strive to partner with brands that want to embrace the spirit of motorsports and share our love for pushing the limits both on and off the track. Our partnership with Chili’s at the Daytona 500 will set a fun precedent for the season to come — we can’t wait for everyone to see what we have in store.”

For much of its tenure, Spire Motorsports has lingered in the midfield, only grabbing one race win. Now, LaJoie is a talented driver, and has steadily been improving. For the upcoming Cup season, he has promised that he will help guide the team into the Playoffs. If that does happen, it will be the first time that Spire Motorsports achieves the feat. The best part is that he won’t be alone, as he will have two talented drivers, Carson Hocevar and Zane Smith, as teammates.

Of course, the #7 driver confessed that it may take time for the team to adjust. Even with all that investment, can one really expect them to challenge for wins, right off the bat? New personnel need time to get used to their new environment and assimilate the culture of the team. Regardless, LaJoie firmly believes that his team should be one to watch out for when the 2024 season kicks off.

For a team that has splurged as much as they have in the off season, there will be pressure. Otherwise, all that money will have been wasted on a pointless exercise.
