In 1983, the cult classic movie Stroker Ace hit theatres. Now, several years down the line, Spire Motorsports duo Corey LaJoie and Justin Haley are paying tribute to the film. To be precise, their #7 and #77 cars will be decked in special liveries for the Kansas weekend.

LaJoie’s car is inspired by Stroker Ace’s own car. Meanwhile, Haley’s car is inspired by rival Aubrey James’ livery.

The team took things a step further when they super-imposed a picture of LaJoie in a chicken suit. The chicken suit is significant because the main protagonist had to wear one as part of his ‘sponsor deal’.

Even NASCAR got in on the action with a clip showing LaJoie’s crash at the Charlotte Roval. This was followed by a clip of LaJoie and his crew chief Ryan Sparks arguing about the race.

Later on, ESPN’s Ryan McGee also joined in to interview him. Apparently, he was also in on the joke and conducted the mock interview. LaJoie said, “I’m tired of equalising. Ate the wall. When Ryan Sparks is on the comms, your mother can drive it.” Meanwhile, Sparks quipped that LaJoie couldn’t drive the car, nobody else could.

Since the two of them are not in championship contention, they are not under any sort of pressure. Instead, the two of them will simply try and enjoy their respective races and keep things clean. With three races remaining on the calendar, LaJoie and Haley are aiming to deliver good performances for Spire Motorsports.

If they are lucky, they could be rewarded with new contracts, especially Justin Haley. This is because, Corey LaJoie has already been confirmed for the 2022 season.

LaJoie has had an up and down season, with a best finish of 9th at the season-opening Daytona 500. Meanwhile, Haley enjoyed a 6th place finish during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona. This proves that the track is a happy hunting ground for Spire Motorsports.
