The charter agreement situation for NASCAR is now at a fever pitch. Michael Jordan made it clear that the team would not sign the charter deal when 23XI Racing skipped the deadline. Front Row Motorsports was the only other team to join in on the cause. While all other teams decided to go with NASCAR’s deal, these two teams stood their ground to say that the governing body could not “bully” them anymore.

In an attempt to find justice, the two teams have filed an antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR and the situation will now be settled in court. According to the new charter deal, NASCAR has implemented a new revenue-sharing clause, which 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports are not okay with. Of course, this has implications for the teams in the future if they do not win; that’s why they must get this matter resolved. As both teams need to win the suit, Kenny Wallace stepped in to share why NASCAR cannot afford to lose either.

It’s been almost a month since the charter agreement deadline, and neither side is budging. NASCAR wants all the teams to sign the same contract; however, 23XI Racing and FRM are not taking it anymore. The media has been discussing the situation as the world waits to see how this lawsuit ends. One thing is for sure: the loser of the suit has another thing coming for them.

Kenny Wallace decided to discuss this subject despite being on vacation in Canada. In the latest video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Wallace spoke about the implications of the lawsuit and the kind of position the teams have put themselves and NASCAR in. Speaking of the intensity of the situation, Wallace mentioned, “This is big. This is, uh, bigger than anything we’ve seen since the days that some of the racers tried to do this.”

Explaining the main clause that the two teams are against, Wallace explained, “The new contract reads that you cannot sue us, especially antitrust.” Luckily, neither of the teams signed the contract before taking NASCAR to court. In a situation like this, upsetting NASCAR could mean that the two teams might not be able to race next year, but Michael Jordan is confident about their decision. So much so that Wallace stated, “They’re so sure of that that they went ahead and signed Bubba Wallace to keep racing.

“That’s big-boy stuff,” said Wallace while reflecting on the situation that the two teams have brought to light. About everything going on with the lawsuit, Wallace stated, “I’ve seen this movie before; it doesn’t play out really well.” Now the situation is quite serious on both ends and neither of the sides can afford to lose. If 23XI Racing and FRM lose the suit, they might just lose their chance of racing in the series.

However, Wallace explained, “NASCAR cannot let Michael Jordan and Front Row win this, ’cause if they win this, that means NASCAR’s going to have to give up millions and millions of dollars.” Bringing up the fact that if NASCAR gives the two teams a different deal, all the other teams might object and the governing body will be put in a tough situation. Calling the two teams “martyrs,” Wallace shared his thoughts when he said, “I believe Michael Jordan and Front Row; I believe they’re willing to whip their own ass.

Now that there is a lawsuit against the governing body, let’s take a look at what Michael Jordan had to say about it.

The recent reports show that the lawsuit was filed in the Western District of North California, and Jeffrey Kessler will take the case. Michael Jordan, who has been at the forefront of the sports industry for more than 3 decades, was unhappy at the unfair treatment the sport was trying to bully the team into.

A frustrated Jordan took to the media to say, “Everyone knows that I have always been a fierce competitor, and that will to win is what drives me and the entire 23XI team each and every week out on the track.” But while his words were in compliments to the sport, he expressed why he was unhappy with the deal.

Jordan explained, “I love the sport of racing and the passion of our fans, but the way NASCAR is run today is unfair to teams, drivers, sponsors, and fans. Today’s action shows I’m willing to fight for a competitive market where everyone wins.”

Michael Jordan wants to continue to race in NASCAR despite the hiccup. The team also signed Bubba Wallace on a multi-year contract that extends beyond 2025. Taking all this into consideration, it’s clear to see that the team wants to race, but the only issue here is the unfair terms.

Once the situation is resolved legally, fans will get to know if 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports have their charters in NASCAR or not. Looking at how the situation is turning out, do you think that Michael Jordan and Co. will win the suit? Share your thoughts in the comment below.
