Team Michael Jordan and Co. have been doing well this season. While Bubba Wallace sits in the Top 10, Reddick just lost an opportunity to bypass many at Darlington. The Goodyear 400 race was not without drama, an unexpected winner, a feisty clash, and an after-race face-off—it had a lot going on. Chris Buescher looked like he was destined to take his first victory of 2024 in Darlington, but he lost out on it. This is the second consecutive weekend that he has come painstakingly close to victory and missed. Last weekend in Kansas, he was behind Kyle Larson just by 0.001, and in Darlington, he ended up in bent fenders.
While he was left with flared tempers, his teammate Brad Keselowski won the race, ending Buscher and Reddick crashing up not just on the raceway but also in a feisty face-to-face confrontation on the pit road.

We can imagine the frustration that Buescher went through. To get so close yet lose out by a hairbreadth. The RFK Racing driver was walled by the No. 45 of Michael Jordan and Co. The latter, Tyler Reddick, was royally rough and dove to Buescher’s left in turn 3. Buescher came in contact, and Buescher had nowhere to go but bounce off the SAFER barrier to his right. The contact resulted in a flat tire for Reddick and damaged Buescher’s car, forcing him to pit. This allowed Brad Keselowski to snatch the victory, leaving Buescher in 30th and Reddick in 32nd place.
After the event, the two had a feisty face-to-face confrontation on the pit road. No one has seen Buescher that agitated, and Brett Griffin at the Door Bumper Clear podcast says, “This guy I’ve never seen him pissed off holy pissed off, holy fu***ng pissed off like he grabbed him.”
According to Griffin, Tyler 100% screwed up, and he gave away another race win. He said, “Tyler’s an idiot okay? If Tyler would have just calmed down for a hot second, coz Buescher was in the fence and he went up there and smoked him anyway. As for Buescher, he just struggled to understand how they always end up getting run over without hitting somebody else first.
Chris Buescher said, “Trying to be decent about it. We had clean racing all day long and to get flat-out fenced like that, there’s no excuse. It’s just a poor decision and an immature move. I don’t get it.” However, Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s No. 45 driver is not someone who races dirty, and he was also apologetic after the race.

The final battle between the three cars from Michael Jordan & Co. and RFK Racing was dramatic. But the 23XI driver taking out Buescher helped RFK Racing with a win-win, and Reddick knows this. Hence, when Buescher unleashed his frustrations after the race towards him, he didn’t play defensively and was rather apologetic.

Tyler Reddick after the race said, “As soon as I knew that wasn’t going to work, I tried to back out and I got… The last thing I wanted to do was wreck your car. I can care less about mine. I’m sorry. I f***** up. I f***** up.” He said he had a flat and had no grip left to maneuver hence he slid right into Buescher. He lamented over his actions and said, “ I had a flat, that’s a different story, but yeah he was going to win that race had I not tried that.”

I don’t have that winner’s sticker on our door right now. You need to be better.” But tragedy aside, he also said he was stoked for Brad and the 6 bunch and RFK to get a win at Darlington. While Buescher deserved a NASCAR Cup win in Darlington, maybe that win was just in Brad’s name—he just broke his three-year win drought after all. Regardless of the result, Buescher’s stellar performances put him in the limelight each week, and he will always have another race to win.ADVERTISEMENT
