After being peppered by the rain during last weekend’s race in Chicago, the rain has now followed NASCAR to the hilly mountains of Pocono Raceway. While the initial rain threat dissipated, a new rain cell made a surprise return to halt the CRC Brakleen 175 Truck race at the Tricky Triangle.

With just 8 laps to go in the race, the race had to be red-flagged with the weather turning gray. In such an event, NASCAR can call the race leader Corey Heim the winner. Although he had been in the lead for a major chunk of the race, fuel strategy and a late charge by Grant Einfinger and Christian Eckes could have turned the tides of the race.

But weather gods certainly are favoring Corey Heim and given the current conditions, he is likely to be handed the victory. Now this isn’t the first NASCAR event that had to deal with rain. It feels like the weather is literally haunting the racing action this season. This streak of unfortunate encounters with rain started at Busch Light Clash and has stayed with the races ever since.

Naturally, NASCAR fans were left frustrated to see a potentially good end of the race being washed out by the untimely weather stoppage.

Fans fuming over the sight of rain hampering yet another NASCAR series race

For someone to tune in for a race for hours anticipating an exciting finish, they certainly felt cheated, with rain stealing their joy. And this fan certainly had it and was in no mood to keep watching the race further. “At this point It’s 8 laps to go…Just call it. Congrats heim”.

Not to mention, we have regular folks with regular jobs taking time out of their schedule to watch these races. Therefore, predicting a sour ending to the race, some fans demanded the race be called official. “Call it so we can move on with our life. Damn rain”.

The interesting thing about the rain at Pocono is that even when one part of the racetrack is getting drenched in showers, the other turn or stretch miraculously stays dry. “Anyone know where it’s raining, it’s completely dry on the frontstretch”.

NASCAR recently added a new rule that they would set a clock in case weather or bad visibility interrupted the racing action. Although there is hope for the race to go back to green and run those final 8 laps, a few supporters were sure that even the clock couldn’t save the race from being washed out. “What are we looking at”? A race that’s over, clock or not”.

Another issue that time and again has riled up fans is the unnecessary caution laps that are run before the race goes green. This fan was certainly not in the mood to see NASCAR spoil the fun with those caution laps. “Just call the damn race we don’t wanna sit here for an hour to watch 8 laps which will be half under caution”.

Now all that is left for fans to do is play the waiting game and hope that the race will be completed, running its full length.
