What a time it is for Brad Keselowski! After picking up a win at Darlington, he came back with a bang at Gateway! It’s tough to believe that this is the same racer who was on a long hiatus from winning given how his performance was nothing short of perfect this weekend. But what changed? Well, apparently his outlook!

He was a trailblazer in the race, showcasing his renewed vigor. But while he was all sunshine and rainbows, the RFK team owner also talked about what could have been better. In his post-race interview, the RFK team offered some valuable advice to Goodyear, and afterward, he performed a heartwarming gesture that resonated with everyone. It seems Brad Keselowski has truly found his mojo again!

After the race concluded this weekend, Brad Keselowski seemed visibly confident of his chances this season. And why wouldn’t he? After a long winless streak extending to 110 races and many thinking he should be retiring instead, his Goodyear 400 win was like an apt justification of his persisting talent. While the win also ended Ford’s long disconnect with the Victory Lane, it also put the #6 in a confident stance, aiming for a championship.

And it seems Gateway was his first step toward that direction. Finishing P3, just behind Austin Cindric and Denny Hamlin, the team owner/driver, in a conversation with Frontstretch talked about his strategic move during the final run at the venue, where he ran long before stopping with 29 laps to go.

He explained the thought process behind this critical decision and said, Yeah, the car was really good. I just didn’t want to give up. Furthermore, when asked about how the Next Gen car has adjusted to the venue’s asphalt, that’s where the #6 advised the official tire partner of NASCAR on how the race could’ve ended up being more exciting.

He said, I’d like to see the tire fall off more.” With tires being an ongoing debate this season, it seems Goodyear will have to eventually work something out for better race dynamics.

Having said that,  Keselowski also took to Twitter later on, highlighting his relentless spirit with the hashtag #6NeverQuits. His confidence is evident as he inches toward the playoffs. Currently sitting at 9th, he seems to be in a good position to contend for the Top-16.

But while his race was great, the same cannot be said about Ryan Blaney, who lost the win in the last lap. However, Brad Keslowski’s gesture towards him warmed everyone’s heart.

It was supposed to be Ryan Blaney’s day at Gateway—he was going to finally win and make it to the playoffs. But as fate would have it, his car ran out of fuel in the final lap, when he was just a hairs breadth away from the win. His teammate Cedric, took advantage of the mishap and won the race instead. While it’s great for the team, for Blaney it’s just a missed opportunity. As he exited his No.12 Ford Mustang, the disappointment was painted all over his face. But someone moved ahead to give him the comfort when he needed most.

In a pure show of sportsmanship, Brad Keselowski shook Blaney’s hand, hugged him, and encouraged him to stay positive. The gesture is all the more significant given how he and Blaney have a history together. Keselowski played a major role in Blaney’s career during their time together at Team Penske Racing. During Blaney’s transition from Wood Brothers to Penske between 2016 and 2018, Keselowski acted as his mentor.
