The 2023 NASCAR season has been marked by an overwhelming number of penalties imposed on teams and drivers. Just a few weeks back, NASCAR handed out significant penalties to both Hendrick Motorsports and Kaulig Racing. However, HMS managed to successfully appeal most of its penalties. Although, if that wasn’t enough, HMS faced yet another round of penalties after two of their vehicles returned from the R&D center.

Now, it appears as though NASCAR has lost its mind over penalizing people. In addition to this penalty frenzy, NASCAR’s latest victim is Kyle Busch and his affiliate teams in the Truck Series.

Renowned journalist Bob Pockrass recently tweeted that three drivers of the No. 51 car were penalized. They were hit with a 10 points dock for a violation concerning the engine oil reservoir tanks.

Furthermore, the tweet by Pockrass read, The KBM/affiliate truck teams and drivers of Wood (the No. 51), Purdy, and Sanchez docked 10 points for engine oil reservoir tank violations.

Needless to say, after getting the wind of more penalties being dished out, fans took to social media to express how they felt about this entire ordeal.

Fans mock NASCAR for the ongoing penalty circus

Almost everyone had something to say about NASCAR and their current penchant to distribute penalties left and right. They mocked the organization for hosting a “complete circus” of a racing series.

Meanwhile, one fan on Reddit mentioned, “This is definitely going to be the most talked about penalty today.”

Another fan said, “Wow. That’s interesting, really on both of them, but it’s also a little suspicious that Sanchez got this penalty too cause he led the dang race before he wrecked.”

Points penalties are the worst type of punishment that can be given to a driver to hurt their season. Moreover, drivers who would be contesting for the playoffs would now find themselves at the end of the lot, working hard to get back up on top.

However, as seen with Hendrick Motorsports, there is a good chance of an appeal working in the favor of the affected teams. Although, everyone seems to be talking about a bias toward HMS over any other team in the sport. Hence, these teams would have to tread carefully and take their chances as they file for appeals to get themselves off the hook.
