The Enjoy Illinois 300 race was perhaps one of the most anticipated races for NASCAR enthusiasts, as Chase Elliott had been banned from the race and people wanted to see if Ryan Blaney could continue his winning streak. However, the Cup Series race at the World Wide Technology ended up becoming all about cautions and brake failures. No other race in the season so far has witnessed so many mechanical failures, as Gateway did this past Sunday.

Still, nothing could deter Rowdy Busch from taking the chequered flag. He fought tooth and nail and outlasted his fellow competitors and drivers, Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano, who took the runner-up positions. But the win for Busch was delayed, thanks to Bubba Wallace’s brake rotor failure, and clearly, not everybody was happy with the fact. Especially Kyle Busch’s wife Samantha.

The race at the Gateway was completely disappointing for many drivers and their teams, especially 23XI Racing and its drivers Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace. Both of these drivers faltered in the weekend race and failed to cross the start-finish line. It was Tyler Reddick who retired early from the race after his No. 45 Toyota Camry hit the wall at lap 174.

Even though he came back into the race, Reddick’s brake rotor exploded and thrashed him to the barriers, completely destroying his car, and ending his chances of getting a clean finish in the race. Unlike Reddick, Bubba Wallace held on to the race till the very last. But with just 5laps to go, he faced the same stumbling block as his teammate. The No.23 was sent spinning, before caution was issued leading the race into overtime.

The caution that was issued after Wallace collided with the outside barrier forced the race to extend for two more laps to decide the winner of the race. This decision clearly did not sit well with the No. 8 driver’s wife, as it only delayed her husband in taking the win. And her displeasure was apparent in the video that circulated on Twitter when Bubba Wallace hit the barriers.

While the broadcasters were heard saying, “Bubba Wallace to the wall, Turns 1 and 2. It could be possibly another brake rotor issue. Wallace was 11th and he was in the battle, right behind Byron. And this moment would be the 11th caution and with just 5 laps to go,” Samantha Busch’s face could clearly tell her disappointment, as the race was delayed.

Even the fans had the same reaction as Samantha Busch. They were clearly not happy with the fact that the race would lead to overtime.

One wrote, “Damn it!!…I feel the same way,”

“My heck yeah! Kyle Busch!”

“Kyle wins either way.”

Others also added their thoughts, “Heartbreaking to see Bubba Wallace hit the wall so close to the finish line! Hoping he’s okay and can bounce back from this setback. See my homepage plz.”

“Nascar has a big problem on their hand about today’s issues. Could be a lot worse results when this happens 4 times.”
