As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, loads of spectacular experiences are lined up at one hallowed race track. Charlotte Motor Speedway, which has been hosting races since 1960, has never failed to tap into gearheads’ love for burning rubber and smoking engines. This time around, at the Coca-Cola 600, fans can groove to some unique motor parties.
Ranging from hopping into a race car to mingling with racing heroes up front, people are bound to remain entertained. Continuing a patriotic tradition, we would also witness the annual NASCAR Salutes Together with Coca-Cola program. So strap your suits, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

The festivities will flag off at the 1.5-mile oval located in Concord, North Carolina, on Friday with the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Series. While tickets for these events and the Xfinity program are still available, the Coca-Cola 600 Cup race is fully sold out in terms of grandstands, standing room, and camping spaces for the third time in a row.
Besides the prime races, fans will also get to brush shoulders with their favorite drivers. Stellar teams like RFK Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, JR Motorsports, and others will host fan events. JTG Daugherty Racing already hosted theirs on Thursday, and fans were thrilled to meet with the man behind the All-Star brawl: Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
What better way to enjoy Charlotte than to relive the driver’s glory yourself? Fans can slip into a firesuit and wield a Cup car on the race track. Richard Petty’s Driving Experience provides this opportunity at the Charlotte track itself. The website details the exhilarating activity: “Following drivers meeting with Crew Chief, you’ll drive a NASCAR race car for timed racing sessions. There’s no lead car to follow and no instructor rides with you. Get one-on-one instruction from a spotter over in-car radio. In between every 8 minutes of Track Time get a brief pit stop and head back on the track to work on driving faster speeds. Pass the slower cars as you catch them.”
Other facilities like Rusty Wallace Racing Experience, Buck Baker’s Seat Time Racing School, and Ford Performance Racing School also offer this experience of a lifetime to diehard motorsport fans.

Also, surviving through the tedious 4 hours of the race may get your tummies rumbling in no time. Pack enough food for the event to satisfy your cravings and also to avoid the big speedway prices. Additionally, bringing headache power or medicine and using earplugs would be optimal. There is no need to flex your toughness by listening to raw power for hours until you get a searing headache!
So all in all, the Charlotte festivities are packed with pomp and grandeur. Make sure you enjoy it to the fullest!
