Recently, Clint Bowyer became the victim of a fairly amusing incident while in conversation with Fox NASCAR. As he talked, he was suddenly interrupted by a telephone in his office, which made him jump. He confessed that he never knew that that phone even existed.

In his defense, he never really frequented his office that much, so he probably was not very familiar with his office. Clint Bowyer joked that he thought the phone was a new one from his new job. All the while, the telephone rang a few more times before going silent for good.

What lies in the future for Clint Bowyer?

Speaking of his new job, the 41-year-old is joining Jimmie Johnson in retirement. However, the big difference is that Johnson is set to race in the IndyCar series in 2021. However, Bowyer is swapping his steering wheel for a microphone, as he is taking up a commentating job.

Fox Sports offered him a job to commentate for them. He confessed that if he had not received the offer, he probably would have continued racing. It is worth noting that Bowyer has some experience in the television business and would have been a free agent after 2020.

According to Bowyer, he finalized his decision as the season progressed. Before long, he was ready to hang up his boots for good. As mentioned before, Bowyer is the second top driver to retire after Jimmie Johnson.

“It was an opportunity of a lifetime, an opportunity to stay a part of this sport for many years to come, and that’s the coolest thing about it,” Bowyer said.

“Was I getting close to being ready to get out of the car and start thinking about it anyway? Yes. Was there a lot of things that happened this year in the schedule and things like that, where I was away from my family doing this on my own that kind of made that decision a little easier yet? Yes. There were a lot of those things, but the fans, the event of a race weekend is something that you just can’t do without.”

Of course, before Bowyer can enjoy his retirement from racing and his new job, he has to see out the 2020 season. Admittedly, he has yet to win in 2020, but has come close at Bristol and Phoenix.
