ThorSports Racing driver Connor Jones has been mired in controversy after being involved in a crash during the playoffs Truck Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. On lap 75 of the race, Jones got in the back of Matt Mills’s No. 42 Chevrolet, sending him spiraling into the wall.

Mills’ truck caught fire before coming to a stop in the infield grass section of the track. Initially, it looked like the driver came unscathed out of the crash, but he was later sent to a nearby hospital. Although Jones was the one who sparked the crash, he was mad on the team radio.

“It’s been all f—–g year, I’m f—–g tired of it.” Jones finished the race 25th, while Mills was credited with a 34th-place finish. Niece Motorsports provided a statement on Mills post-race. “Matt Mills, driver of the No. 42 J.F. Electric/Utilitra Chevrolet for Niece Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, is being transported to a local hospital for further observation after contact during today’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Additional updates will be forthcoming, with no additional comments at this time.”

NASCAR did penalize Jones with a 2-lap penalty, but his comments post-race have caught everyone’s attention. Conner Jones was asked if he has a moment to comment on the crash with Matt Mills, which led to a two-lap penalty. Jones asks a ThorSport employee, “Should I? Or do you think I’ll say something stupid?” #NASCAR.” Toby Christe posted this via X.

These comments by Connor Jones have enraged fans online, and they came down heavily on the driver with their opinions on social media platforms.

Have an interesting take?

It was evident from Connor’s comments that he felt no remorse for crashing Mills into the wall. It is indeed hard to see a team condone its own drivers, but this fan wouldn’t mind taking matters into his own hands if had an opportunity as a team owner. “My hands would be around Connor’s throat if I was the team owner. What a pr–k.”

Not sure if a NASCAR driver could file a lawsuit against another driver for a race-related incident. But going by Connor’s response and his antics on the racetrack, this race fan was curious if this was a possibility. “Can a NASCAR driver sue another driver if they get injured in a crash that was caused intentionally?”

If Connor had no ill intentions, he would’ve shared his take on the entire incident. Maybe shared his side of the story on what led to his outrage on the radio and his actions in the post-race. This was evidence enough for the fans to conclude that Jones’ actions on the track were deliberate. “Declining comment pretty much says it all.”

Connor Jones is a part-time driver, and he’s not helping his case with his antics on the racetrack. Even though he was the instigator of what could have led to an egregious outcome, he dusted his hands clear of any wrongdoing. The young driver certainly had a long time to learn a lot of things, but this fan thinks he might not make it. “I hope he’s f–king embarrassed. Jones is a classless loser.”

This isn’t the first instance where a driver lost his cool on the racetrack in retaliating against their rival. But Jones wasn’t fighting for a title or a potential win; he just wanted to get even with Mills. It’s hard to see a race team kick a driver off their lineup, but this fan felt ThorSports should do the right thing in kicking Jones out of the team. “Yea ThorSport should fire Connor jones now.”
