Winning a race in the NASCAR Truck Series is always special but this time Christian Eckes got something extra. When he won at the Martinsville Speedway on Friday, he wrote his name into the history books with more than 1000 laps completed in the competition.

NASCAR stats enthusiast Trey Ryan shared the news on his X handle as Eckes won his second race of the season so far. The 23-year-old has become only the 29th driver to achieve this feat and undoubtedly will take a lot of pride in the matter. After the race ended, the McAnally-Hilgemann Racing driver was a happy man as he called the victory special. The future sure seems bright for him at the moment and it will be up to him to keep this momentum up.

“Something really special. We came here last year, and we weren’t really that great we were maybe a sixth-place truck (started sixth and finished 15th). And we worked really hard on it, and here we are in Victory Lane. So just super proud of this entire team,” the driver of the #19 truck said as per WCYB.

Eckes survived a late restart brilliantly to hold on to his position and take the checkered flag at the end of proceedings. One of his closest challengers was Ty Majeski who had to settle for a P2 finish. After the race, the ThorSport Racing acknowledged the toughness of the #19 driver. Battles between these two throughout the season will be quite intriguing.

Majeski has yet to win a race so far this season but he came as close as possible at Martinsville to doing so. The ThorSport Racing driver is rated quite highly but the lack of a NASCAR championship in his resume is a huge motivator for the 29-year-old veteran to get even better. On Friday, however, he acknowledged that Christian Eckes was the better driver.

“The #19 was tough tonight. He was just a little but better than us. He had better tires (in the final stage), and I just could not launch on restarts. But I think we left here with the points lead today. Really solid day. Obviously, you want to win. I wanted that grandfather clock (trophy), but I’m super proud of this team. We’ve been working hard at getting our trucks better, and just a little but short tonight,” Majeski said.
