During the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Chris Buescher suffered a pretty scary crash towards the latter half of the race. The Roush-Fenway Keselowski Racing driver ended up in the infield turf after contact with Daniel Suarez.

His broken right front wheel sent his car airborne, which was then followed by his Mustang barrel rolling four and a half times before it landed on its roof. Immediately after the incident, Buescher was rushed to the infield center, but it wasn’t until after the race that he updated his fans on his condition.

First off, I’m OK 👍🏼 Took some pretty violent hits. Very thankful to my @FifthThird crew and @NASCAR for helping build safe Mustangs. Wish we saw the checkered… had a strong Top-10 effort today! Thanks all for the support,” he tweeted.

Chris Buescher reveals what he wished he’d have done differently after his crash

In a post-race interview, Chris Buescher opened up on the circumstances and decisions that ended up with him wrecking out of the race. “We checked up for it. We got run over from behind. … I guess the tire gets ripped off and sent us flipping,” he said.

“I have been upside down before, but that was a little bit more painful than the Talladega roll.”

The RFK Racing driver admitted that while it took the safety personnel five minutes to take him out of his wrecked Mustang, he wished he’d have done something differently to at least make the experience a little more bearable for himself.

“It was nice to be able to get out. The blood is rushing to your head a little bit. I guess I could have pulled the belts and fallen right to the ground, but figured I’d just wait on them,” Buescher confessed.
