Chris Buescher recalls how awkward the first public question to him regarding Brad Keselowski went. Even though things have drastically changed over the years, Buescher confessed that it was quite different when Keselowski initially joined the team in 2022. He looked back on an interview ahead of their Darlington race that season.
Buescher said, “I think it was Darlington, the first year uh, that Brad came over and I got asked out on the five stages, if I would wreck him for a win. And um, that was a hard answer because the truth was probably not anybody needed to hear.” He added, “The truth was not something I’m sure I could say and not get fired. But uh, I think we have a pretty good understanding that we’re gonna run each other hard, we’re gonna make a show out of it. But we’re certainly not here to wreck each other but um I didn’t know exactly how to answer that one back then. So, I’m more confident.”

The 31-year-old also mentioned how things have taken a complete U-turn since they got to know each other. Not only do they have a professional relationship, they often have fun poking moments with each other.
“It’s been fun to get back to win races together. So it’s been a good time. We’re still learning each other and certainly been able to start having a little fun poking at each other now. And I feel confident enough to be able to do that,” continued Buescher.

Brad Keselowski also recalled attending a Ford driving school with Chris Buescher around 2015. During that experience, Keselowski was impressed by Buescher’s talent and his intuitive understanding of the car.
He said, “I just felt like he didn’t have the support system around him to be successful with the teams he was with. I kind of felt like he was a hidden free-agent gem that wasn’t being scouted properly and felt that way for a handful of years. So yeah, the first thing, it was literally the first thing I did when I signed the papers at RFK.”
Having each others’ back is a major criterion for a team to be successful and reach the pinnacle of success. The RFK team is gearing up for the upcoming Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Let’s keep an eye on how this collaboration further impacts RFK Racing.
