NASCAR will see Kiwi Supercars champion Shane Van Gisbergen race full-time in the Xfinity Series starting in 2024. Last season, the 34-year-old made his debut in the Cup Series and won his first race in the competition at the Chicago Street Race, boosting his popularity in American motorsports. He followed it up with a top-10 finish in his second start at Indianapolis and now, the Kiwi will finally be in his first full-time season. To commemorate the special moment, Chevrolet sent a special gift to the Supercars champion.

While there’s still a year left before SVG joins the Cup Series as a full-time driver but in 2024, he will be racing in the Xfinity Series for Kaulig Racing. It is all part of an agreement between Kaulig and Trackhouse Racing for the development of the Supercars champion. Next year, SVG will be in the Cup Series racing for Trackhouse Racing.

There seems to be a long partnership in place between Shane Van Gisbergen and Chevrolet in the NASCAR competitions. After all, it was with a Chevy that SVG came home to win his debut race in the Cup Series. Now that he has chosen to drive for two Chevy teams, the American car manufacturer decided to show their goodwill towards the 34-year-old and gifted him with an $80,895-worth Chevrolet Suburban.

The 3-time Supercars champion recently shared an image of himself with the car in front of Trackhouse Racing’s shop on Twitter. He thanked the American manufacturer for the gift as he captioned the image, “Thanks @TeamChevy for the new wheels!”

The work is about to begin for Shane Van Gisbergen in the NASCAR Cup Series. He will be at the Daytona International Speedway for the opening day of the season. The Kiwi is one of the star attractions of the Xfinity Series this year and if he performs well, the Cup Series drivers will have a serious threat to worry about.

It was recently revealed that the 34-year-old will take part in 7 Cup Series races this year for Kaulig Racing. Looking ahead at the new season, the Supercars champion exuded the confidence of a seasoned veteran as he gets ready for life in the fast lane with Kaulig and Trackhouse Racing.

  • Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on March 24,
  • Talladega Superspeedway on April 21 and October 6,
  • Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 26,
  • Chicago Street race on July 7,
  • Watkins Glen on September 15
  • Las Vegas Motorspeedway on October 20.

As you see, there is a lot of Cup Series oval racing for the Xfinity Series rookie, which he is quite excited about.

“When I first started talking with Trackhouse about moving to the U.S., we had no idea how many races we could secure but I knew I wanted to be with that team and organization. There has been a lot of hard work to get to this point and I could not be happier to know that I get to race for an Xfinity Series championship and then get a proper go at the Cup Series on road courses and ovals. Kaulig is a proven winner in both the Xfinity and the Cup Series, and I know with the alliance with Trackhouse, this will be an incredible first year for me in NASCAR,” he said as per Forbes.
