NASCAR Cup Series driver, Chase Elliott, has a unique charitable program called ‘DESI9N TO DRIVE’ in collaboration with NAPA, his own foundation, and the children’s healthcare of Atlanta. Through the program, Elliott gives a chance to young courageous patients to design a livery for his car when he races at the Darlington raceway each year.

This year, 16-year-old Dani Gamel’s design was selected to be featured on the #9 Hendrick Motorsports car, and fans were highly appreciative of the design on social media.

Dani Gamel has been living with leukemia since the age of 13 and she mentioned that she was able to spend a lot of time with therapy dogs while she was in the hospital. Taking inspiration from those dogs, Gamel came up with a design that saw drawings of the dogs featured all over Chase Elliott’s car.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver will be driving the special livery car around the Darlington Raceway during the first playoff race.

During an interview, Gamel said, “When I was in the hospital, I spent a lot of time with therapy dogs. They were just so sweet. They were always so good. I kept on making the dogs too big for the car.”

Her designs will also be featured on Elliott’s racing gloves, suit, helmet, and shoes. All the accessories will be held for an auction after the race in order to raise money for the Chase Elliott Foundation.
